Just picked up this Bergara B14R .22LR to see if it will replace my CZ for bench shooting at 50 yards. I have it equipped with a Weaver T36 scope and Diamond Triggertech trigger set at 9 ounces. Testing ammo right now to find something it likes. Best so far has been Lapua Polar Biathlon. I don't have much of this ammo so not sure what I will end up with. Best 5 shot group @ 50 yds. was .452" OD. I think it will do better as this was only the second range trip with it.

Looks like an excellent setup, and I’ll be interested to see future reports.

I’ve had very little experience with the Lapua Biathlon and it didn’t work well for me, but my shooting techniques have improved a lot since then. Practically every review I see seems to make clear that it’s important to find the right rifle/ammunition combination when striving for max precision with a 22 LR rifle.

And what are those fantastic-looking front and rear rests that look like they cost more than the rifle? I need another rest setup like another hole in the head, but they definitely caught my attention. Smile

Sig, Yes it is critical to find the right ammo for your barrel. It takes a good bit of testing. I bought the above rest used and it was originally a one piece rest. I had a machinest friend make two pieces out of it, because our group doesn't allow one piece rifle rest. Here is the link https://targetshooting.com/

These rest are built like tanks, very well made.

I sighted in my friends Bergera. It likes yellow box Eley.
The Gunsmither tool is very helpful in replacing the bolt.

So rather than watch my dear Wolfpack get annihilated by the Tigers (it's going to be a long season) I turned off the TV and went out to shoot the Bergara with the EC V2 tuner installed. I shot 4 brands of ammo. Aquilla Golden Eagle (Eley primed), Eley Match, Tenex, and Lapua Long Range. I shot two shot groups and then turned the tuner in 5 marked increments through each brand. After picking the best settings for each group I will go back and shot some 5 shot groups until I find the best setting for those brands. 50 yds.

I do realize that it is entirely possible that the difference in those groups could be with the shooter and not the tuner , but that is why I will tune to the best groups and shoot some larger 5 and 10 shot groups on my next session. I think it is worth it and shows some promise.
