Anyone have a good source for cheap full size AR500 3/8" thick IPSC Targets? I just need the steel silhouettes as I can weld up brackets/mounts. Thanks ______________________ Semper Fi

I don't think there is such a thing as a cheap full-size IPSC AR500 target. $220 to $240 is a common price. This is where Big Dog Steel falls. JC Steel is $219. They do sales regularly. I believe the one for IPSC shapes just ended. Rogue Shooting Targets is $191. D-M Targets is $157. I have a mix of JC, Rogue, and D-M plates. All work well.

Check with steel suppliers in your backyard. Save on shipping. Suppliers around here stock AR500. Commonly used for heavy machine cutting edges.... FYI. I have lots of steel both cut with a water jet and plasma cutter, no difference in how the edges hold up.

^^^ THIS ^^^ Yes, the steel is expensive, but what really gets you is the shipping cost on that heavy stuff. Find someone local. You might even get lucky and the owner is a shooter! ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. To save money, consider if 1/4" AR500 is adequate for your needs. I have a number of larger 1/4" plates which I use for longer-distance targets. For 6.5CM and 308 Win, my plates have not shown any signs of dings or cupping at distances of 600+ yards. For 223 Remy, my 1/4" plates are fine at 300+ yards. Actually, they're good at 225+ yards with heavy bullets, but 55 grain FMJ does produce tiny pin-point dimples on steel out to 300 yards, depending on barrel length. I've seen no issues with 9mm handguns at 20-ish yards with 1/4" steel. Haven't tried any closer. 1/4" plates move more upon impact, because they have less mass than 3/8" plates. 1/4" plates also ring a whole lot louder than 3/8" plates -- with more of a "ting" sound than a "thunk".

https://madetargets.com/silhouettes/ He's about the cheapest I've seen. I don't have any of his targets, but they're the company who bought out Arntzen whom I bought a handful of plates from with no complaints. They're in Illinois, so not horribly far shipping wise. _____________________________________________________ Sliced bread, the greatest thing since the 1911.

I bought a full set of steel targets including a 2/3 IPSC and several rounds of varying sizes for $150 on sale on Amazon a year or two ago. The whole thing came in one of the USPS $7 priority mail boxes. I had to lift it off the truck for our mail lady, all she could do was drag it. $225 AR500 Target Solutions Laser Cut 12"x20",12", 8",6",4" x 3/8" Thick 5 PC.
