Pin fired shotgun people please help
As usual anytime I am around my grandfather I learn a little something. Well one of tonight's Thanksgiving Dinner discussions was his 1870s French Side by Side 12 gauge.
What a beautiful piece of art. Fully engraved with the trigger guard being hand carved Black Rhinocerous horn.
He is in search of 2 brass, pin fired shells for this gun.

Any idea where one would locate such a part?????

That’s really a cool story and sound like a beautiful firearm.

Finding the shells may be very difficult.

It’s a gun shop up in Alaska the owner deals in some crazy obscure stuff.

Hope you have some luck.

I came across that just a short while ago myself.
Looks like he'll ship to the US. I'll send him an email to see what shipping costs are like 33 Euros is give or take $40 each.

Not bad for around $100 I guess, though I think my grandfather would like to find some non reproduction if possible. He mentioned wanting the gun being complete before he passes it on.
I know he refused to use reproduction parts on his Model A and T.

You might try some of the collectible ammunition auctions out there just to see what turns up.

You might also call some of the better antique stores that sell guns. I'd definitely give James Cohen and Sons a call down in New Orleans - (504) 5222-3305. If they don't have what you're looking for, they may be able to give you some good leads.

Apparently they just deal with the firearms themselves and had no idea where to look for the shells.

May have found a couple of paper shells.

Was pointed towards a couple more places I'll give a buzz in the morning.

Brass shells

There are several places that sell brass hulls, though I don’t know of any that make ready to go cartridges.

Those are centerfire shells.
