SNT Provides Update On American K2 Rifles
Daniel Y
by Daniel Y
Published:
July 21st, 2025

"SNT Defense, the American arm of the Korean arms manufacturer formerly known as Daewoo, has posted a new update on the status of their projects. The K2 rifle is still coming, but timelines have been pushed back somewhat. Keep reading for all the details.

---
To summarize, orders for DP51 pistols will open in the last quarter of 2025, with an anticipated MSRP of $499. K2S parts kits from Korea are also coming by the end of 2025. US-made K2S rifles are now planned for Q3 2026 with an MSRP of $1799. That is further out and more expensive than was predicted at SHOT, but at least we know they are still coming. "

Well, OK. Another piston AR15. MSRP of $1800. Underwhelmed is what comes to mind.

Yeah, I don't see too many people being willing to drop nearly $2k on these.

It's a 40+ year old design, basically the lovechild of an AR-15 (magwell, bolt, and trigger group), an AK (gas operating system), and an AR-18 (overall layout/ergonomics).

It doesn't do anything better than any other modern semiauto rifle. It lacks some of the features and the aftermarket support of many of them. And there's only a very small niche of "South Korean clone rifle enthusiasts" out there.

I am good for $750. Mainly for a folding stock and side charging.

The proposed price on the DP51s dropped. Here's hoping something good happens on the rifle prices.

I think it's cool. Objectively, nothing does anything better than a good AR. Variety is a good thing.

I just dropped close to $1800 on a 605 clone.

THIS will be in my collection too, as originals are $4000+.

Every last one of my Vietnamese coworkers are interested because of what they represent.

Locally. I thought the prices are ridiculous.

Wish I’d kept my preban K1A1 … I gave around $500 for it 30 years ago and after a few years, I sold or traded it for something else that tickled my fancy.
There was nothing wrong with it. Nice & compact with the collapsing stock, it shot well and was easy to clean.

This one is on GunBroker now for $2,300

If you really want something you'll find a way ...
... if you don't you'll find an excuse.

I'm really not a "kid" anymore ... but I haven't grown up yet either Wink
