I bought one a year or so ago? A blem at a discount. Mostly out of curiosity and to learn. Tried it briefly on a .22 pistol. I suppose it worked, but turned an extremely accurate pistol into one that was only good for plinking larger targets.* I keep meaning to try it on a shotgun, thinking that's where it would work best, but haven't done it. I think it would probably work better on a long gun than a pistol due to alignment issues (that you wouldn't have with a stocked long gun and a good cheek weld). I wouldn't put it on anything I wanted great accuracy from, maybe a PCC or plinking .22LR. I'm glad I didn't pay full price. *(it was easy enough to hit the 6" plates at 25 yards. But the gun usually has a 23+ year old Tasco Optima "RMR" sight on it, with which you can hit empty 9mm cases at that same distance.) _____________________________________________________ Sliced bread, the greatest thing since the 1911.

Just because something is legal to do doesn't mean it is the smart thing to do. |
I tried on a few years ago. I honestly don't recall what (long) gun I had it on, all I remember is never again! Integrity is doing the right thing, even when nobody is looking.

I'll be the contrarian. I put one on my Kel-Tec KSG, and like it. Much quicker sight acquisition than peep sights (e.g., Magpul), and affordable. Of course, it's a shotgun and isn't capable of MOA accuracy, so it's "good enough". Thus the metric system did not really catch on in the States, unless you count the increasing popularity of the nine-millimeter bullet. - Dave Barry "Never go through life saying 'I should have'..." - quote from the 9/11 Boatlift Story (thanks, sdy for posting it)

A turkey hunter here used one for a while, then moved on to a low power scope for his extra tight choked gun.

Interested in these as well. Curious as to how they'd work on a canted setup as a backup for a ranged optic, and how accurate they are at longer ranges... And if they work worth a damn at night. ________________________________________________

I will let you know. Yesterday I stuck it on an angle mount, then on an upper. (not on a lowewr) "Testing" it that way wasn't working. lol I then took the mount off and just put it right on the upper. Late, I put the upper on a lower. I found the sight much easier to use. (not shooting, just aiming) The cheek weld makes it much simpler to use than on a handgun. When I get a chance I will stick it back on the angle mount and see how it goes. I have no doubt it will be less accurate than a scope, dot or iron sights, bbut might do well enough for a close range sight. That was the reason I dug the mount out, thinking of sticking it on a rifle with I have with 6x as the lowest power on the scope. This thing might work well enough 0-50 yards assuming I have room to mount it. The regular one wont be worth anything in real dark. They do sell a tritium one, but I know nothing about it. _____________________________________________________ Sliced bread, the greatest thing since the 1911.

After moments of intensive research I have determined, yeah it would probably work. Cheek weld/eye alignment isn't what I'd like, but that may have more to do with the offset mount I'm using than the sight. I'm not sure where I'd put it. With the mount I have, I can't put it anywhere but in front of the scope, on the railed forend, because of scope clearance issues. That might not be the case with a different mount or with two, higher scope rings. It's definitely something I will look into father as my rifle project progresses.

They call em “see all” but theyre not even see through. You have to see over. And youre still lining up dots and triangles. It may have a … slight advantage over irons, but so many disadvantages over nearly any other optic. Also, its not a new sight. Google shows some reviews of the sight back in 2014. And if youre just now hearing about it, id guess its pretty much a gimmick surviving off people who think its a brand new, latest and greatest, because so few have heard of them. ____________________________ While you may be able to get away with bottom shelf whiskey, stay the hell away from bottom shelf tequila. - FishOn
