mataiLow Pro Gas Block for barrel with pinned compensator?
Can anybody recommend a low profile gas block that's either two piece or clamped so it could be installed on a barrel with a pinned PWS FSC556 Tactical Compensator? Oh and it's a .625 size.
I'm trying to figure out how to change handguards and get the new barrel nut on.
Thanks!

hrcjonI'm confused slightly. If its .625 any regular gas block (.75) should clear. Any low profile one will be fine with your barrel nut.

Chris OrndorffI think you're gonna need a new barrel. That would certainly be the easiest route. Not that it doesn't exist, but I've not seen a two-piece gas block and IF one did exist I doubt it would be low profile.
Good luck.

Yeah, dang, that's kinda what I was thinking, oh well I guess I'll order one of those Ballistic Advantage Hanson barrels.
The barrel is from a S&W M&P15 I bought maybe 8 years ago. I had ADCO recontour it to a pencil profile, chop it to 14.5" and pin/weld the PWS FSC555 Comp on it. Only 2650 rounds through the barrel, I'm sure I can find another use for it.

Vltor low profile, that and the barrel nut were put on prior to pinning and welding the compensator on.
Maybe I'll just cut down the barrel again to put on a pistol braced lower. I haven't been able to find any solution for a 2 peice or hinged .625 gas block. Down side of that is I trash the compensator. I don't think there's any way to save that.

This is a primary reason I don't like 14.5" barrels that aren't NFA. The pinned and/or welded muzzle device becomes part of the barrel, and it almost always becomes unusable when the barrel is retired.

I have one...but the pinned/welded FH is a Phantom...works great, but is only a ~$20 muzzle device so no loss if it has to be cut off someday. I wouldn't pin/weld and expensive muzzle device!
