Picked this up today. Marked as an 1893, but I believe it's really an 1894. Date puts it somewhere between 1906 and 1912. It's in 30-30 and the barrel is marked Special Smokeless Steel. Somewhere during it's life, it's had the stock modified with the Marlin buttcap. It's really strange s I really like it! Anyway, A crappy photo. What makes you say it's really an 1894? The 1893 was chambered in rifle cartridges, including .30-30. The 1894 has a shorter action and was only chambered in pistol cartridges and some shorter intermediate cartridges like .25-20 or .38-40. It was not offered in .30-30.

If you don't want to wait to hopefully find an original like a Lyman No. 1 JA sight, you can get a modern production tang sight for the 1893 from MVA: https://montanavintagearms.com/sights/
