A few years ago someone posted pictures of a AR they had camouflaged. The pattern was about a year old but looked new. Anyone know the brand of paint used?

Could you narrow it down some?

What colors were in the pattern?

Was it commercial or a DIY?

Rattle can? Bake on? Vinyl?

Or should we just ask the question:

Has anyone got a camo paint job on their AR that has held up well over time?

Ah, you're probably talking about this one.

Can't speak specifically about tbe post you are referencing but krylon camo spray paint works well and is touched up easily.

I have done all my ARs this way and have been pleased with the result.

It was a rattle can and not Krylon camouflage paint. I also remember that he compared it to one done in Krylon that was about a month old that was already chipping, fading and pealing. Woodland color pattern. Now that I think about a time frame it was before 2010. Paint had either a x or z in the name.

Aervoe for paint, and Brownells Aluma-hyde for a spray on epoxy finish that's solvent resistant. Those are the two popular options that come to mind.

That’s what I use. It’s still a spray paint and therefore is far from indestructible, but I’m pretty happy with it. It seems to be more durable than the other types I’ve gotten from the local hardware store.
