In the market for a new optic for my MK18. I was pretty set on the T2, but It looks like the used T1 market is pretty attractive. I can grab the T1's in the $500 range, lots of time with the mount. Any real reason to move to the T2 from the T1? I have an old H1 that's been bomb proof over the years so I really wanna stick with Aimpoint. I briefly considered the COMPM5, but that top battery compartment looks like a "weak" spot. Any thoughts are appreciated.

T1's and H1's were reported to have parallax issues and there was a lot of discussion about it a while back on the AR specific sites. The T2, H2, and M5 have corrected the issue. Personally, the M5 in a Scalarworks mount is about the best thing going for red dots. And it uses AAA batteries.

The T1 is fine. I have half a dozen or so. The T2 corrected the blurred comet “dot” for those with astigmatism and overall is a better version than the T1, particularly if using a magnifier. But the T1 is fine and if you’re looking to save money, a used T1 is a great option. --------------------------------------------- "AND YEA THOUGH THE HINDUS SPEAK OF KARMA, I IMPLORE YOU...GIVE HER A BREAK, LORD". - Clark W. and you can get the M5 with the battery compartment in what I consider a much better place by just getting an M5S. Any aimpoint would be fine IMO. “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”

Does the T2 have less blue tint?

Yes. It’s not a mind-blowing difference, but it is noticeable IMO. I ran a T1 for ages. Solid optic, I never had a problem hitting what I wanted out to ~300y or so with it. I never ran it with a magnifier, but it did the job just fine. Aside from clearer glass, the T2 gets you better parallax control (again, never affected me in a measurable way, but I wasn’t going for 1/2MOA groups with my rifle), a crisper dot for using with a magnifier, and the updated body/housing. So at least in my mind, it really comes down to whether you’re using a magnifier or not, and how good the prices are on each. But that’s just me.

I have a couple of the T2’s and have been very happy with them. I picked them both up used, and purposely waited for ones that had Scalarworks mounts. Perfect setup for me! Buying used allowed me to get it with the mount for less than the price of a new optic alone. 10mm lays waste to entire cities, cuts through diamonds and will tear Superman a new asshole. - Parabellum Sex offenders can not be rehabilitated. I would buy a used T2 if I were buying an Aimpoint. Comparing my T1 to a Holosun you would be surprised how much better the Holosun looks. I can’t afford Aimpoints on everything but I wish I could. David W. Rather fail with honor than succeed by fraud. -Sophocles

I'd go with the 2 vs the 1, for the aformentioned reasons, and the different housing. The M5 doesn't do anything for me, personally. I have had an H2 for years, and it is awesome. I have been wanting a T2 for a while now, but haven't been able to swing it yet.
