usncorpsmanFinished my grandsons M1 Carbine…pics & range report
Hello guys,
I received the Ultimak rail few days ago. As stated in their manual, you have to remove some material inside the stock to allow for the rings of the mount. You do not have to do this for real GI guns.
I used a Dremel and sandpaper to complete the work. Working very slowly, it took about an hour and a half to do the fitting and sanding by hand to get the perfect fit. I then stained the area with the same stain as the stock. It looks very professional for something that you will never see…lol.
The rail itself is a very easy install. It mounts to the barrel with just 4 screws and 2 rings. It is rock solid. There was no movement of my initial zero after about 50rds or so.
At the range it took 3 shots to zero at 25yds. The groups were nice and tight. I moved to 50 and did not have to adjust the red dot. The 25yd zero was dead on at 50. Headshot offhand at 100yds were pretty easy, but this will mostly be used inside of 50-75yds.
I think he is going to love it. His Birthday is next month and I plan to give it to him then.

According to his other recent thread, it's one of the new production Auto Ordnance carbines.
