I need suggestions for an optic to use with a bolt action suppressed 300 blackout.
I'm thinking LPVO, maybe 1-6 zeroed to 50 or 100 yards?
What do you guys think?

I always feel a bit lost in answering these without some hint of 'to do' what, with what budget.

Probably $500 max. I was leaning towards primary arms LPVO. Or possibly just a red dot.
I just bought a Sig Spear-LT. I don't have Leupold money

Having a Ruger American Rifle 300 B/O that I shoot almost exclusively suppressed, I would recommend you get an optic with some magnification. I started with a red dot scope and was not happy with my 100 yd groups. Changed over to the Vortex Strike Eagle (1x6) and my groups tightened to what the guns capabilities were.
Now I am older and do not have great vision so having the magnification helped me see the target’s bullseye where with the red dot it was just a blur.

Fair enough!

Just don't buy from and support communist China.

I am with Fritz; don't fall victim to the "why pay more for less" Chinese optics trap. Leupold is about the only game in town, when it comes to a somewhat affordable quality optic that's not relying heavily on Chinese or other foreign manufacturing. We all know the glass isn't US; in the case of Leupold, much of the rest is.
Coincidentally, like your recent silencer post, 220Smudge had a recent post concerning a very similar optics hunt. He got burned by Steiner and EuroOptic, but there might be some other good info in that thread.
If you do go red dot, you might consider boosting your budget just a smidge, to enable the purchase of an Eotech. That's a high-quality, largely US unit. Watch out for Sig's current offerings in red dots; check origins thoroughly.
Also, remember that you need to factor in a mount for the LPVO; that means you ultimately end up with a $400 optic, which is very limiting.

I have a ball with my Ruger American .300 BO rifle. I usually shoot 125-gr projectiles just because they are more accurate. Therefore, I went with a Riton Optics 1 Primal 4-12X50 scope. Great for whacking varmints when the sun isn't fully out. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Bart940,

I'm a dealer. I can get an eotech for mid $400's if I decide on one. And if I decide a Chinese optic fits my needs, I'll buy that instead.
And I had no plans on buying a scope mount. I was just going to use the force to hold it on there. I'm not retarded, I know I need to factor in a mount. Come to think of it, I have a couple 30mm mounts laying around.

Thank you. This is the kind of info I was looking for.
I picked up a Ruger American 300blk today on GunBroker. I offered the guy $400 shipped and he jumped on it. I wish I would have started lower. But it still saved money. The dealer price on a new one is $460 + shipping. I'll put the money saved towards filing SBR paperwork and then cutting the barrel down.

Well, be smart enough to ask more specific questions, and don't mock people who can't read your mind. Mentioning that you can get an item for 10-20% cheaper than the majority of forum members is highly relevant. I am glad that Bart knew what you wanted apparently much better than you did, as his recommendation was neither an LPVO nor a red dot. Being a dealer, there are MANY Leupold's you could get, while meeting your budget goals. You do have Leupold money.
Oh, and we DIDN'T know whether or not the mount was a factor in your pricing. That makes a $100 difference, which is a pretty big chunk of a $500 budget. More specific parameters help people help you more efficiently. But, it seems a mind-reader is what you needed; thankfully Bart was here. You are receptive to a suggestion that would have earned one of your trademark eye rolls in any other thread: a suggestion that did not address any of you OP parameters. You are difficult to communicate with. I no longer regret "hijacking" your suppressor thread, as that hijack content ended up being the most interesting portion of that discussion; and you've proven, with this thread as evidence, that a thread of yours isn't gonna make any damn sense anyway. This message has been edited. Take it easy. There's no need for all of that.

OK, let's be adult about this. The man has enough sense to leave it alone at this point.

Found an old 3-9 Redfield laying around. Rings are too high, but will work for now.
