Anyone have experience with one? My local shop has a Gen 1 with the shorter barrel, and I’m interested. Just curious what I should expect as far as accuracy. Is it going to shoot any more accurately than a basic M4 style carbine, with the same optic? Update…. Went back today, and gave it a close look over. Super clean, factory box and paperwork, and the oem short Magpul mag. $425 out the door. Not a steal, but I’m ok with it. Now to decide on an optic. Probably nothing real fancy, just a 3 x 9, or something similar.This message has been edited. A bolt action rifle will ne more accurate than a basic autoloading rifle just because the chamber is tighter. I have several Ruger Americans in .22LR and a couple of the vintage M77 rifles. One in .22LR and one in 30-06. I have no issues with either. The American Rifle seems to have the Browning/BSA type internal striker type bolt now instead of the Mauser type with the striker that sticks out the back to indicate that it's cocked and the magazine is part of the stock now. Everyone is going to this type of rifle now for simplicity. I don't think it's a bad rifle at all and 5.56 is a relatively difficult chambering to find. They're good utilitarian rifles for the money. Not the most refined thing out there, but you're not paying for that either. I'd expect it to be at least as accurate if not moreso than a basic mil-spec type M4 carbine. One thing to check would be the barrel twist rate compared to what ammo you plan to shoot. | |||

Thanks for the input! After I posted, I spent some time on Google and YouTube, and they seem to have the same general opinion. Not the most elegant or refined, but a lot of gun for the money. I am looking real hard at a Gen2 in 300 Blackout. Real hard. They seem to be out everywhere. My LGS has three. Two in 350 Legend and one in 450. | |||
