We gonna get some oojima in this house! |
The peep sight is really small. I’m thinking about some type of simple optic 1x so he can get some instant gratification shooting. He’ll learn irons but for now I want it as simple as possible. Anybody got any experience with these? ----------------------------------------------------------- TCB all the time...

Yeah, well they have young eyes. Teach 'em how to use Iron Sites first! That's my advice. Rolan Kraps SASS Regulator Gainesville, Georgia. NRA Range Safety Officer NRA Certified Instructor - Pistol / Personal Protection Inside the Home

Just because something is legal to do doesn't mean it is the smart thing to do. |

I bought a CZ 455 Scout to teach my daughter (7 years old) to shoot. It has simple leaf rear and blade front sights (and also a receiver dovetail for mounting optics if desired). She was able to get the idea and be shooting pretty well with the iron sights within maybe half an hour. I think starting with iron sights is useful because with iron sights you pretty much have to mount the rifle properly and maintain a consistent head position or you can't use the sights. It cuts out a whole class of bad habits you can easily develop when you first start shooting.
