Been waiting on Palmetto State Armory to get the H&R 733 C7 upper back in stock for a while now.

Seeing Brownell's had a C7 upper on sale I figured that would be just as good so I ordered one.
Color matching was not a concern for me, with gray lower and black upper.

Today I received the Brownell's upper and put it on my H&R lower.

What a disappointment, if fits very loosely.
Now what would you do?

Do Brownell's fit fine on lowers other than H&R?

All my fully H&R upper and lower's fit nicely with very little slop.

I agree with Para but I'd buy them here for less than $2.00/ea if you buy two or more. I ordered like 10 of 'em a few months back and they're GTG.

And just an FYI if you've never used them before - You may need to trim the vertical tab and/or the base of the rubber Accu-wedge to fit your particular lower receiver.

The base can sometimes be a little TOO thick for proper closure of the receivers. Also make sure the upper tab doesn't interfere with the bolt carrier or buffer.

There's also this option: JP Enterprises MicroFit Takedown Pin Set

If you use the Accu-Wedge, once you've established a proper fit, always push down on the top of the receiver over the rear takedown pin when you push out the pin, to take pressure off of the pin. Otherwise, the friction of the Accu-Wedge pushing up on the upper receiver will cause excessive wear on the takedown pin and the takedown pin holes in the upper and lower receiver.

Also just a buck-ninety-seven at Midway, unless the Brownells product referenced is different.

God bless America.

I have some Colts with the full battle rattle that function perfect. The accu wedge quiets them right up.

A foam earplug works too, with a little trimming.

Or, just learn to live with it. Upper/lower slop is annoying, but doesn't affect the rifle's accuracy or functioning.

I have an eccentric front pin that can be rotated to take the slop out. However, it screws into place and doesn't push out.

The JP pins work. They may require some fitment work to achieve good lock up. i used an undersized pair for an upper and lower that would not mate at all.

A less permanent option is the DS arms Bufferloc kit. kind of a niche idea. I liked it enough to keep it an an AR pistol with too much rattle.

While the sloppy fit is annoying it has no adverse effect on function. Many of my Colts have this and mine span many decades- transferable M16s from the 60s/70s, pre-94 blue label, 94-04 ban era LE carbines and Gov’t carbines, up through 2013 where the fit got a bit better. Personally, I wouldn’t let it bug you. Just shoot the gun.

It bothers some people. It doesn't have anything to do with accuracy or reliable functioning. It just plain bothers some people. I know this, because I am one of them. Some of us don't want our shit rattling around. A loose upper makes an AR feel cheap.

I get it. The loose fit used to bug me too. I got over it after noticing that every Swiss SIG 550, pe90, 551, and 553 with steel lower had similar loose fit. The sample size is around a baker’s dozen spanning guns from the 80s to current. I just stopped caring the more I shot my guns.

I sold a Sig556 DMR because it rattled. Sig finally started learning on their AR variants and machine a pocket in for factory wedge. I guess that’s cheaper than QC.

As least on 55x uppers, the fit can be tweaked by giving some english to the back corners of the steel upper in a vise; the gap is tiny but nice when it closes smartly.
