First time refinishing a stock, kind of Login/Join

I refinished a 10/22 stock one time but it was a disaster. I had no idea what I was doing.

This is from the Remington 760 I’m trying to tidy up. I started with citristrip, using nylon brush on the checkering.

I hit it with 200 grit sandpaper after the stripper then 0000 steel wool, avoiding the checkering with each.

So far I’ve got one coat of tung oil but man what a difference. I’ll post completed photos after a few more coats.
