What are people using for 9mm AR colt style mags?

I have an ASC 32rds mag but want to pick up some more. The ACS has been fine but I don't have too many rounds through it.

Metalform is all I used for 20/32rd mags.

Tried some ASC ones but they were spotty in my 9MM AR.

Metal form for sure. I have some asc mags but had to tweak them to get them to run.

Brownell’s.

Beautifully made and good stuff. Someone told me they were Metalform. I don’t know. I bought a 3 pack of them with a Colt marked plastic mag loader for around $90-99/shipped a few months back.

I'm using Stag factory in my Stag 9. No problems and cheap. They look like Metalform.

Probably are - they OEM for lots of companies, Colt included.

After way too many asc failures (they were cheap) you want metalform ones. They can be direct or OEM, but those are what you want.
And don't even consider any of the plastic ones.

I have mostly Palmetto State branded Metalforms.
Some ASC as well.

I've got a Colt 9mm SMG I bought as a complete de milled part's kit, came with all the parts including the mag section of the receiver and the 3-round burst trigger ... I've got 2 Colt mags & a C-Products which has been good, then I picked up 6 plastic Pro-Mags and I've put a few hundred problem free rounds through them, all shot in full-auto with my Colt M16 lower.

PSA branded metalforms as well. They work good, but I don't have a high round count on mine.

A Perpetual Disappointment...

Brownells FTW! I have 10 of them and recommend them highly.
They are indeed made by Metalform, but to Brownell's specs. The Xylan coating makes them literally wipe clean with a paper towel. Super slick and very durable. Well worth the $$.

I've metalform mags in volume in lots of different forms and finishes and guns. Very old ones, new ones, somewhat old ones etc. etc. I have never had a bad one. The very early blued colt ones need constant maintenance to avoid rust but that's it. On the other hand I was given a large batch of promag ones, I used them since they were free but all (100%) of them eventually failed. I bought a large batch of ASC ones as the price was 1/4 of a genuine metalform. The failure rate was high enough that was not a good deal. SO over lots of mags, guns and rounds, if it counts run metalform. If it doesn't use what you want. FWIW>

Mill a magcatch slot into a surplus Uzi magazine and you're all set.

According to Chris Bartocci, the early Colt 9mm SMG mags were made exactly like that.
Why invent the wheel when there were perfectly functional UZI mags out there.

I have had better luck with the Metalform magazines than with the ASC or Promags.

Keep an eye out for sales. I bought 32 rounders from Palmetto State Armory last year on sale for $12.99 each with free shipping on 10 or more.

As many have said Palmetto uses Metalform for their mags.

I've had good luck with the PSA Metalform mags, but I've only tried 115gr WWB ball ammo. Had anyone had issues with hollow points?

I have shot every possible 9mm type of round with genuine metalform mags and real factory colt AR's in 9mm. Without any issues. Other combinations I can't speak for but that one will eat anything.

I have a RRA LAR9 and it came from them with a converted 25 round UZI magazine.

I was just thinking, there are other guns that are so much better ... guns that are made for the 9mm ... so why bother?

Just because?

I guess that's as good a reason as any!
