I have the Beretta on the way in and I'm trying to grok how to set up the light for it.

All my ARs have Arisaka Defense lights with Surefire tape switches (UE?) but that's a no-brainer, given the ton of M-Lok slots available. The lights are pretty far forward so the only real shadow I get from them is if I have a suppressor mounted.

So with the A300, I really don't want to use the barrel clamp mount, which just leaves the M-Lok slots on the forend. I figure with one of the AD 18650 bodies, it'll still sit far enough forward to minimize any shadow from the barrel/tube, but I'm wondering if the back will be too far forward to comfortably work with my thumb. Oddly enough, Will at AD was saying they don't recommend Surefire tail caps and tape switches anymore due to QC issues.

Anyway, I'd love to see what you A300 owners here have come up with.

Not an A300 owner, but a 3101 Owner:

I have one on my 1301, my work AR, and HD AR.
Knocked around in my locker, trunk, range, streets... They are still working!

I am following this as I am currently working on getting a light on my Benelli M4 w/ a Mesa Tactical MLOK Truckee forend which extends further than the OEM. I would prefer MLOK and to have the light mounted on the right side and a switch on the left. Curious to see what others have done with their shotguns.

This^^^(more or less, I have a 1301, not his fancy 3101 ;-)). I have the Zhukov forend and it works great. I don't see why the MLOK slots on the A300 wouldn't work the same.

I was convinced I wanted this, but now I'm not sure. How do you like yours?

I have a stock 1301 and mounted a Streamlight ProTac to a small piece of Magpul rail on the provided forward MLok slot. I use my thumb to activate the rear tailcap button - it serves my needs fine without having to add the wired switch.

My A300 ,I posted this in another thread but seems perfect chance to reuse.

Modlite and a Trex light bar knockoff this combo works perfectly for me. I don’t feel like a need a switch, just hit the tailswitch on/off. Definitely don’t need the tailcap that’s on the light here I just haven’t swapped to regular on/off switch.

If I didn’t have the extra Modlight sitting around I would have used about any lights but I am partial to Modlites and surefires.

Gun should be in Tuesday, so once I get my hands on it, I should have an idea how I'll do this.

Back to the OP and the Question:
A lot of lights (Surefire being one) are going to need a cantilever mount to push the light foreword.
Allen- When the gun gets in, see what light you want, then figure out where you want it to sit so it's comfortable for you to use.

When talking about 500+ lumens inside of a house, will there really be much in the way of barrel shadow? Seems like the spillage/reflection off other surfaces kinda negate that.

Not much shadow.
You’ll be able to see with 500 lumens in a house

1301 owner here. My 1301 has the A300 style fore end and I added a Streamlight Pro Tac utilizing the Mlok slot on the left side and it has worked perfectly so far. I ran 50 rds of slugs through it just after adding it and it did not loosen during the course of fire.

So I really like it BUT I'm getting a clearcoat Aridus aluminum handguard because I like the thinner metal (and because I have a sickness in that I can't stop fiddling).

If you want, email me and I can send you the Zhukov to try and then if you like, keep it. You'll just have to wait a few weeks for me to get and install the Aridus.

EDITED: I don't know that the 1301 Zhukov can go (or can be made to go) on the A300 patrol. You are welcome to it anyway once everything is in place.

That's very nice of you, but I THINK I've got a solution.

Arisaka light and mount, right side of the handguard. Langdon LTT heatshield and switch mount, cable over the top.

Still trying to figure out what switch I want; classic Surefire or that Modlite button thingy.

LTT has some great stuff so it sounds like you're in the right direction.

Just ordered the Arisaka ring mount for my A300. I will clamp an old Surefire into it.

On my 1301 Mod 2, I use a Streamlight TLR 1s, leftover when I switched to a TLR 7a on my H.D. pistol. It actually works nicely on the 1301, I attached it to an M-Lok using a short rail adapter. My index finger on the hand gripping the handguard is in good position to activate the light on & off without the use of a tape switch. Plus I can remove the light in 5 seconds, real easy. I do get a slight bit of barrel shadow on the left rim, but IMO not an issue.

The LTT heatshield came in, along with the Arisaka goodies. I can confirm the Offset Scout mount will NOT work on the forend with the heat shield on. Big Grin

I'm gonna return it and we'll see if the MCX Offset Scout will. Either that or the Inline Scout.

The LTT heat shield is pretty nice. I'd give it a 8.5/10. Despite being very slow and deliberate with the drilling and what not, there is still a tiny bit of play up front. The switch mount is nice as well.

Had an old Fenix TK12 on the left side and it was almost perfect for thumb activation but way to heavy with the mount. Trying this setup right now, not bad, we'll see how it works.
