That'd be a step back towards the original design of the Garand. It was originally designed in .276 caliber, fed by 10 round enbloc clips. (General Douglas MacArthur, then serving as U.S. Army Chief of Staff, nixed the .276 Pedersen cartridge in 1932 in favor of sticking with .30-06, and the Garand was scaled up to accomodate.)

don't forget about semi auto shotguns with slugs versatile and you can go pretty accurately out to around 150 yds certainly not 30-06 accuracy / long range utility though ----------------------------------------- Proverbs 27:17 - As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.

Somehow you guys need to get the word out to the Ruger Development Team about creating a "Survival" version of their Mini-14, so we can continue to have access to their fine products in event of a "Assault Rifle Ban". I'm sure if their flagship Mini-14 starts to be banned in addition to the AR15 they'll do something about it, but by that time all we'll be allowed is a musket, black powder, ball ammo.

M1 Carbine. No/minimum scary features (can easily remove the bayo lug if it has one) and in some ban states 15rds is GTG, plenty of 10rd mags as well. Pop on an Ultimak rail (which is not a permanent mod) and a mini RDS and light, it would give nothing up to an AR in practical terms. “People have to really suffer before they can risk doing what they love.” –Chuck Palahnuik Be harder to kill: https://preparefit.ck.page

Have a M1 Carbine, but was thinking more if "detachable magazines" ever become grounds for ban. Like the idea of a tactical carbine for HD, light, fast handling.
