Several months ago I bought a few stripped lowers. I fairly rapidly used 2 of them. The 3rd has been sitting in the safe ever since. Was at Cabelas yesterday and picked up a lower parts kit. Put it all together today.. so I now have an assembled lower sitting in the safe. Am trying now to decide what to do with it. I already have: Sig MCX (9" 300blk SBR) (i know i know... not an AR) Aero Precision (10.5" SBR) Barret Rec7 (16" piston) Sig M400 (16" DI) Palmetto State (16" DI) Barret Rec7 DMR (18" piston) Aero Precision (20" DI) Suggestions? This is where my signature goes.

10.5 inch 9mm pistol with brace. I have a 9mm carbine with 16 barrel, and Colt 32 round stick magazines. One of the most fun guns I own. I'd make it into a pistol, but I can't because this particular lower came from the factory as a rifle. "I vowed to myself to fight against evil more completely and more wholeheartedly than I ever did before. . . . That’s the only way to pay back part of that vast debt, to live up to and try to fulfill that tremendous obligation." You really need to figure out what you want to do with the end product. Otherwise it will collect dust in your safe. If you're uncertain, I'd let the lower sit for awhile. To throw a wrench in the works, there's no need for a 1-to-1 ratio of lowers to uppers. I stopped thinking that way a few years ago. You have a solid range of barrel lengths in 223. Therefore if you stay with 223 you'd be looking at redundancy. There are a number of the other calibers available for an AR-15. Consider your purpose -- plinking, steel targets, paper targets, training, competition, hunting, HD, backup rifle. Do you hand load or do you rely on factory ammo? What distance to targets? What are your ballistics expectations -- flight and/or energy on target? What are your plans for optics, if any? What's you budget? Are you planning to suppress?

Oh - I also have a Sig MPX w/ pistol brace Barrel chopped to 5" with an omega9k on it So I'm good to go w/ regards to a 9mm subgun (also have a Kris Vector SBR in .45) 5.7 is interesting.... I might go that route.... But then I would "have to" get an FN-57 and a PS90 to go with it... This is where my signature goes.

I've been considering getting a Franklin Binary trigger to put in one of my SBR'd lowers ... this is my 12" barrel ... you can shoot mag's or belts ... or Beta-C mags if you have them If you really want something you'll find a way ... ... if you don't you'll find an excuse. I'm really not a "kid" anymore ... but I haven't grown up yet either
