I know there are a lot of guys here who use Magpul sights and honestly, this is my first set of sights from them, the gen 3 MBUS. Tried installing on an AUG and a total NO GO. Took the bolt out of the sights, tried to slide the front sight on and after about 5 minutes finally got it to notch #1 and no further. Had to drive it off with a hammer. Tried filing it down, figured there must be a plastic bur or something, still no go. Didn't waste the time trying the rear sight. I'll stick with steel from now on thank you very much.

Also, as far as the sight picture goes, I'm not sure I could even use the rear. I've got national match sighs on an AR with the finest hole in existence and the narrowest front sight post and have no problem seeing/shooting with it at distance. I hold these up and there is a lot of fuzz going on. Granted I've got older eyes at 50+, but they just won't do it for me.

That's the problem with slide-on only sights. And, with polymer, out of specs are easier. I had the same problem with the MBUS 3, but with the rear unit.

Speaking of Magpul, I've been less than impressed with some of their accessories lately. Out of spec M-LOK Type 2 Rail Covers. New RVG with stripped screw threads out of the box and now I can't even unscrew it from the nut. It just turns and turns and turns... Roll Eyes

About the only things I can trust from them now are the mags, stocks and slings.

I don’t mind them. They are back up sights in case my optics go down. I’m not trying to place at Camp Perry with them.

There are lots of choices out there if you can’t get Magpul to work.

Where did you buy them from?
TONS of counterfeit Magpul out there.

Yea. I can't get my Magpul rear sight to even go on my rail.

This was my thought as well. I'm also curious as to what vendor you used.

Just put one on my AR pistol as a back-up only. It was rather snug trying to slide it on, but it went. Taking it out today to get it and the red dot sighted in. It's certainly not a precision instrument by any stretch, but it'll serve it's purpose should the red dot go down. And, the price was right.

Same. Never buy Magpul from ebay or amazon. Counterfeit garbage. I've been burned.

You probably got fake ones. I just bought a set and it was stiff but wiggling back and forth was pretty easy to put on.

I have the new gen 3's on 3 different rifles as back ups to my dots. Unless your rail is out of spec I'd also say you got counterfeit sights.

I’ve had plenty of Magpul sights, Gen 2 and Gen 3 on various firearms. Some are tighter on some rails that on others. I’m sure they are all real, not counterfeits. Even putting the same sight on different firearms has resulted in various degrees of tightness. Polymer molded sights are made in a mold and shouldn’t have a lot of tolerance. There might be some mold lines that need to be removed, but that should be about it. I think there are also some variations in the width of pic rails. Do you have other guns you can try the sights on?

Good idea. I'll try my LMT to see if it fits on it.
