While I don't doubt is a good rifle I think you can have the same quality for less money, I would buy an other brand at those prices just my opinion.

So what do you suggest?

Recently purchased a SOLGW upper. Have probably put all of 75 rounds through it, so can't speak to long term durability.

As others have said, fit and finish excellent. Did a fair amount of research before I bought and they do have an excellent reputation. Yes, they will replace a shot out barrel. Rational is that anyone who shoots out a barrel obviously shoots a lot and it at least going to be an influencer among his buddies/acquaintances, etc.

I think they also put a lot of thought into how they spec their rifles. I would put them up with BCM, maybe even a hair higher.

Not the original poster of that but share the same sentiment.

I think FN is currently building the best off the shelf, nicely equipped, at a good price rifle right now.
If I were to buy a rifle off the shelf today it would be an FN.

Slight update. The rifle has L9 markings. Apparently this is an L.E. line of the SOLGW rifles. Is there any real difference among the other SOLGW rifles? Other than the mid length gas system there doesn't seem to be any differences between my Colt and the SOLGW.

L9 = Loyal 9

Which model Colt do you have and which model SOLGW are you looking at?

Colt made some great rifles. I have a 16" Colt M4A1 SOCOM that I'd put up against anything for a hard use gun. They also made some crap. The model and date of manufacture can mean everything with Colt.

SOLGW has several different models and configurations as well.Their Patrol line is about the lowest rung. Still solid guns just no frills. Their special runs with FCD parts are their highest (and collaborations with Sage Dynamics, Presscheck, Garand Thumb, etc.). Of their "off the shelf" rifles, I think their M4 89 is top rung right now.

The SOLGW is a Patrol SL 16". My colt is an M4 marked 6920 bought in 2015. It was an OEM I believe that came without a BUIS, trigger guard, handguard and buttstock. I placed Magpul furniture and a BCM stock on it.

I don't think you have anything to gain by trading.

I’ve been thinking the same thing. I’m gonna pass. Thanks to everyone who chimed in and gave their advice.
