It's just a stainless steel split ring I put through the hole. I have a bunch of them. I use them for anything from hanging bird feeders & wind chimes to the one you see here.

Ive seen videos of guys shooting a 50bmg upper on a polymer lower. I would think that over time it will tear it up. Ive seen several break near the rear take down pin.

A lot of these have plastic hammers too. I think these would be fine for a 22lr upper. But I wouldnt use it for anything serious.
