Is the Surefire DSF-870 discontinued?

Multiple Surefire dealer web sites say it is and no one had them in stock (until I found one that had 3 and I bought one).

A customer service person at Surefire said they will be making them in June. I do not know why dealers would say they are no longer made, however.

I am installing one on my 870 Police Magnum model that is a LE agency trade.

You have to take everything from dealers/salespeople with a grain of salt. They may have seen that their distributor doesn't have them in stock, and made the (incorrect) leap that they must have been discontinued.

Over the years, most of the Surefire shotguns foreends were purchased by LE agencies, and shotguns have dropped dramatically in LE use, with most agencies phasing out shotguns altogether and very few actually purchasing new ones that would necessitate purchasing additional weaponlights to go on them. Therefore, I can easily see why Surefire would have switched to just one or two small runs of those weaponlights per year, to match the decreased demand, rather than having them in constant production and always on hand/in stock like it used to be.

Also, keep in mind that there are two 870 Surefire weaponlight foreend models. There's also the 618LMG-B, which appears to be in stock from several places, including from Surefire itself.

If they do discontinue that model, SureFire "usually" comes out with something similar.

I sat next to a pretty cool SureFire rep on a flight some years back. He explained a lot to me after I expressed my dissatisfaction with SureFire getting rid of the P6 flashlight and the rechargeable batteries.

The model I mention and have enroute is the 200/600 dual output version whereas their other model is 1000 lumen with no lower output. Glad I found one!
