usncorpsmanMy 6.5 Creedmoor Acquitted itself today….shooting much better.
Hello guys. I took the Creedmoor back out today and just focused on my shooting fundamentals. I used smaller dots as my aiming point (aim small, miss small) and concentrated on getting a good trigger press for each shot. I also removed the FH and replaced it with a thread protector.
My load today was the best shooter I tested from my last time out. It consisted of 38gr H4350 and a 140gr ELD-M. I fired 3 groups with this load and they all stayed around 1”. I had to make a few scope adjustments, so that is why the 3 groups are in 3 different areas on the paper.
My second load was 43.4gr of H4350 with a 123gr ELD-M. It shot about .75”.
Third load was 38gr of Varget followed by 38.3gr Varget, both with a 123gr ELD-M. The 38gr was not so good, but the 38.3 was wonderful. That would have been a solid 1 hole group, but as I was staging the trigger, the guy shooting next to me fired a shot with a loud as….. brake which caused me to jerk my shot. It was a called flyer. My story, and I’m sticking to it

.
Anyway, the gun shot much much better and I am happy with it. I’m going to focus on these two loads and see if these groups are repeatable.
First time out with the gun.
Todays groups….much better.

DaBigBRDon't discount the possibility that the muzzle device was a contributing factor. I've seen a couple occasions where an over-torqued device really dicked with groups.

fritzLooking better.
Did you make any adjustments to the scope -- from 1st target set to the second, or within the 2nd target set?

The top three targets were all shot with the same 38gr load I used the first time I had the gun out. That load shot about 1” high to the right. When I took the muzzle device off, it moved the POI low left on the first target. I finished the group and made an adjustment on the second group and another on the third to center things up. I truly believe the FH was causing my issues. I am going to leave the muzzle bare with just the thread protector.
