As the title says, curious of any first hand experience with the VCOG 1-6. I can grab one for about $900 (used, great shape) which is enough under the NIB MSRP that I’m tempted. YouTube reviews say it’s heavy but durable. Ok. I’m curious how useful the 1x function is. Planning to place it on top a SCAR16 for shooting at 5.56 distances: 20-300 meters.

Thanks!

Have one on a SCAR 17. Heavy, durable, does what it's supposed too. Reticle is a little thick for precision shooting, but for putting a 7.62x51 round on a man sized target out to 600, it works just fine.

I have the Marine Corps version 1-8 VCOG on a Colt 901 (.308 AR). Great optic. Have used it out to 500 yards and no doubt it will do well past that. My favorite optic for distance shooting.
$900 is a smoking good deal!
Added: You were asking about the 1x setting. Have not really used that, with it mounted on a .308. My thought is it would work well. I used it for distance shooting only. Have not shot it at less than 100 yards.

only have experience with a 1-8x. Heavy but with the integrated mount. not too bad.
my mag ring is a little tough, i should get a throw lever for it.

1x on the 1-8 is pretty good. i think the razor II-E is better. Eye box at 8x is a little tight, but not bad. Glass is excellent imho.

i think for $900... do it. you wont lose money selling it again if you don't like it. they are tanks... somebody at trijicon really thought about an LPVO falling off a building or something....

I had a 1-6 years ago. I wish I still had it. The people who leverage the weight against it are whiners, IMO. When you factor in the integrated mount and the ruggedness, it's a wash. Does it weigh more than a Chinese 1-6 in a Aero minimalist mount? Yessir, it does. If you don't require or appreciate the advantages of the rugged construction, then go for something else.
