Raised Hands Surround Us Three Nails To Protect Us |
Sure seems like a lot of gun for the money? Is the trigger really that good? ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. I will be your brother, and I'll hold your hand. You should know I'll be there for you!

Yikes, I’m not even sure what the question is. Lol. I gotta go google.

The new 16" with the nice trigger is a great value at like $1600. I have two older Sugar Weasels when they were still doing clear anodizing instead of cerakote; one the original Under 21 rifle in 5.56 and a 300BO 8" pistol

I haven’t bought an off the shelf AR in quite some time and was looking at picking up an FN 15 Tac 3 Patrol which seems to be a nicely specd rifle for about the same price. Q has always seemed like a quirky boutique expensive venture that I did not have much interest in with the Fix or Honey Badger. This Sugar Weasel looks like it has a lot of higher end parts, trigger, charging handle, safety selector. Color combo and Cerakote are not really high on my coating list but ohh well.

The guys who got good rifles and cans from Q seem to love them. The folks I've seen who had problems with their stuff, well... read up on Kevin Brittingham and see what you think. This isn't a guy I would give money to. ______________________________________________ Carthago delenda est

99.999% of companies would ignore or patronize you over that impatient, unreasonable expectation. KB should self-filter but doesn't. Hardly a reason to not buy, at least to me.

I have an original sugar weasel, what was a pistol. It is a pretty nice unit, not sure on the newer stuff. Besides cans the Q gear seems a little expensive, but hard to say if it is worth it or not. For the most part they make some nice gear.

Yea that doesn’t sound like a huge red flag that he thinks it is.

You google sugar weasel there's no telling what you might see! Slight drift, but it showed briefly in the video. Does anyone have any time using the Honey badger stock? Wondering just how bad it is. I found very little online about them.

HB stock looks cool....not that nice to shoot with it though. But, it's meant to be a compact package similar in dimensions as the MP5SD but in a rifle caliber

I was looking at the standard Ar version, "Q shorty" about a year ago but it's about the same. I didn't think it would work for what I was doing, so I passed. But curiosity and gadget shopping get my brain percolating.

Here's my 300BO Sugar Weasel. Only complaint is the bog standard USGI parts they came with when I got mine (typical black LPK and BCG not fitting the rest of the gun). I rebuilt it with an NP3 LPK from WMD and also the NP3 Radian safety plus the Q trigger. Bronze PVD BCG. Reptilia optic mount and Scalarworks iridium fixed sights. Plan B adapter for my SiCo Omega...still need to get a flat grey end cap for it. It's a handy piece of kit...I'll SBR it at some point.

This is an original production U21 back when Q wasn't doing rifles. Got it in trade from a friend down in GA who likes "gold stuff" lol. I have the parts to rebuild this one too but haven't gotten around to it yet. This is how I received it from him (minus the Scalarworks sights and new BCG I added)...random mix of stuff on it and all (push-button safety is odd but he digs them). Also have a Q trigger for this one. If I had it to do over again, the new production rifles at $1600 inc the trigger which is a great value...these original U21's were $1500 and made for the under 21 crowd that wanted a Q gun but couldn't buy the "pistol" under federal law. You'll note the originals were discretely marked on the front of the magwell:

I really like that rear sight. The adjustability of A2 style sights are great and all, I found in real use, 98+% of the time the A1 setup works just fine and gives me a better view of the world around.

I watched the linked video and while it seems Q assembles very nice guns, with an attention to quality and detail. A good deal of the parts they use are not actually made in-house. I do not see the $1600 dollar price to be so spectacular. I recently picked up a Danial Defense DDM4 V7 "Pro" which comes with the Geissele SSA trigger and Magpul Pro Iron sights. I paid $1640 out the door at my LGS. When asked about their SS barrel (which is outsourced) the owner of Q notes that many companies with hammer forged barrels only hammer forge the barrel and not the chamber, cutting the chamber after forging, potentially impacting accuracy. DD hammer forges the barrel and chamber, and the modern chrome lining processes don't impact accuracy. Other manufactures may do so as well. My DDM4 V7 weighs 6.1 lbs, with the Q at a little under 6.1 lbs. I still think it is a good AR, but I don't quite see that is a spectacular deal.

I've owned a few Daniel Defense rifles; none feel special like the Q rifles in my experience. My first DDM4 V7, I paid $1400 for which was the best deal I could find at the time and frankly, it felt overpriced at that. SOLGW doesn't manufacture their stuff in-house either but they're rifles are comparably priced and seem nicer put together than DD's for less $$.
