Does anyone have access to a way to date an AR Colt LE SN by its SN? If so, I will email a SN.

Picking it up locally today.

Interesting. Neither of my 6920's show up when I put the SN in.
It does say it's not a comprehensive list.

My SN of the 6920 did not pop up either. Does anyone know off hand the phone number? I think this is a 6920 and owner added the quad rail; but it could be a 6940 w factory quad rail. The rail is not marked. I got this Friday. Robert

tscheimer that's definitely not a 6940. the previous owner added cheap aftermarket pieces. first thing id do is remove the grip on the mag well and see how its actually marked from Colt. probably gonna be a standard 6920.

eta I bought the 6940 from you a few years back

Thanks. I have him sending me the original parts! I took off the cheap magwell plastic, laser and red dot, so far. Yes, I sold you a nice one!

tschiemer, that's gonna be a newer production 6920..probably in the last 3-4 years. surefire giveaway is the markings are not old school Colt rollmarks. is there a cagecode near the selector?

The LE6940 is a single piece upper thru the end of the rail, not an add-on. The bottom rail slides open for maintenance. If yours has a separate quadrail that is removable It is not 6940.

You can call colt they will confirm the details of your gun from the factory and provide you a letterhead with the info. I believe there is a charge though.
