I have one of those SilencerCo, billet upper and lower sets that I’m building up and am interested in y’all’s opinions on barrels. I’m 95% sure this is going to be a 5.56 gun, no longer than 16” and will pretty much be a fun gun. Given the rest of the components I’m using, I’d like to go with upper mid tier to high end barrels.

Thanks for the recommendations!

My eye is on Criterion. I don’t have any of their barrels, but they get good reviews.

Yep.

I've shot out 2 WC barrels, have 5 in current rifles, and 4 spares in the basement for when I shoot out existing barrels. WC barrels are consistent, accurate, and tolerant of many types of ammo.

You just missed 15-20% off sales for black Friday, pre-Christmas, and New Years. Wilson may or may not have sales in the next few months. You can pretty much bet on a sale before Memorial Day.

I've got 2 criterion 24" barrels. One is on an upper and the other is in the safe waiting for a receiver to open up. I haven't fired it much but I really like what I see so far. I paid $300 per.

Compare to the Ballistic advantage barrel of the same length I foolishly purchased before I found those. I had to drill the gas port out because it wouldn't cycle properly. Never again.

Another point in favor of Criterion: they're the OEM for the barrel on my ARC rifle. It's a nail driver, and I'd happily pay for another one.

I have a lot of rifles with Rainier Arms Ultramatch barrels in multiple calibers and lengths - all incredible shooters.
That is when they were using Shilen blanks, not sure who they use now on the new Mod 2s but I would expect them to be good.

One of the best is one I built with White Oak Armament SDM 20" barrel - my most accurate AR.

I will say this that a SS barrel and Wylde chamber are starters for my criteria, the only one that is not very accurate I own is a Daniel Defense pencil barrel - made it for a lightweight rifle but not a tack shooter like the rest but serviceable nonetheless.
