.22 Mag shooters…Do you suppress your guns?
I said I was not going to buy any more guns for the time being in order to concentrate on my long range shooting. Well, I was offered this Ruger .22 Magnum Target with the scope, bipod, 2-9rd mags and 2-BX15 magazines for $550. I could not pass it up.

This gun is seriously accurate at 50yds, but is ridiculously quiet with Winchester subsonic .22 Mag. I had about 300rds left and just saw it was not being made anymore. Do any of you guys suppress your .22 mag guns and if so, what are you using?

Many rimfire cans are rated for .22 mag and they will all work similarly. Subsonic 22 mag will sound just like subsonic 22LR, so very quiet. Regular 22mag will be subtantially louder because of the supersonic crack, but still much quieter "at the ear" than without a suppressor.

IMO I almost always prefer a supressor on whatever rifle or carbine Im shooting, even if it's calibers or loads that arent ideal for use with a can.

I run almost everything suppressed. I don't have a real need for subsonic .22WMR as if I want real quiet that's not the caliber I am using. If I pick .22mag its because I need a bit more energy. And the ammo simply doesn't exist anyway.
I use a .22RF can fwiw.

Thank you for your reply. Are you saying SS .22 mag does not exist? If so, I have 6.5 boxes of Winchester SS .22mag that is just as quiet as my .22RF.

I routinely suppress 22WMR rifles. It takes it down to the noise level of an unsuppressed 22 Standard Velocity.

I can’t add anything other than, “that’s a beautiful rifle, man."

Nope, I'm saying its not in current production and readily available. If you have a source please advise.

You are 100% correct Sir. It was once plentiful but is no longer in production. I’m down to my last 400 rds. The gun does however still sound outstanding with regular .22 mag and being a jacketed round, I have no issues using it in that old YHM 5.56QD.

New set-up with SWFA 10X42 AND YHM 5.56QD
