It seems like I always pick up tips on these cleaning technique threads. I do something a little different, and it has worked well for me for many years. I use a .17 rod (Dewey or Proshot) along with a .17 brush, and wrap a 3/4" square around the brush. I also use a AR15 bore guide to direct the patch into the bore. The patch wrapped around a brush seems to give more contact with the bore. I run solvent on the patch until the bore is clean. Then I apply oil or some other rust preventative the same way. It works well for me. | |||
