That it pairs well with short-shorts?

Of the various design differences, the one I'd hold out, is adjustable gas.

Inch pattern FAL built on an Imbel receiver.

Has a very recent barrel and will manage about 2 MOA from a bench.

Very reliable rifle.

Gents,

Not a L1A1 this is an upgraded FAL from DSArms. Very nice, accurate, and reliable. I still kick myself in the ass for letting go of my Aussie L1A1...

I had DSA build me a Hebrew War Hammer FAL from an Israeli parts kit. I love the wood on it.

"The designer of the gun had clearly not been instructed to beat about the bush. 'Make it evil,' he'd been told. 'Make it totally clear that this gun has a right end and a wrong end. Make it totally clear to anyone standing at the wrong end that things are going badly for them. If that means sticking all sort of spikes and prongs and blackened bits all over it then so be it. This is not a gun for hanging over the fireplace or sticking in the umbrella stand, it is a gun for going out and making people miserable with." -Douglas Adams

The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all. -Mencken

Yeah, as another "wood and steel" fan myself, the Israeli pattern FALs are a special kind of cool, kicking the "Cold War chic" aesthetic of the FAL up even a couple more notches.

I've never shot it past 200yds, and in that distance if you aim center mass, someone is dead or wounded. I think that meets the standard for these rifles and others as battle rifles.

I have a "grab bag" or can of .308 that has just about everything worth shooting in it. Aside from the match ammo. I might be all done with the Chinese "copper wash," who knows. This thing eats everything.

I fear the internet has gotten people a little to fat and happy with accurizing etc. Nothing has been done to this except the SUIT. It's OK, don't ditch your regular top cover.

I can't say I've seen anyone use the term, so I'll re-introduce it:

Minute of Dinner Plate

Meaning, put a bullet in a 10 inch circle. A lot of rifles can do this, in fact the standard for many is 4 minutes. At 2-300 yards I'm certain I can ruin someones day.

Can these be accurized? Kinda. While the M-14 saw service as a DMR, these rifles and the variants continued on as is, some are probably still doing the job. Just like an AK it'll run without the dust cover...

I think DSA carries the torch for these now, good luck finding a parts kit.

I've long heard of what you're describing as minute of dirtbag, minute of scumbag, minute of bad guy, minute of OPFOR.

You're not going to win Wimbledon with it, but if you can do your part it'll put the other guy in the dirt at reasonable engagement ranges.

I think they called it "minute of dinner plate" because a dinner plate is typically 10."
