Useless Rifle, But Got It Anyway...
It probably isn't very accurate, and it's certainly not all that special, but I had to have it anyway after seeing it at my LGS...

A Ruger 75th Anniversary 10/22 for $325.00. Will mount a Burris 3-9x40 scope on it in the next few days. Scope is matte black to match the black sights, trigger group, recoil pad, and laser-etched checkering on the stock.

Brought it home late yesterday afternoon and can hardly wait to get it to the range to try out! A few years ago I posted here about really wanting a 10/22 Sporter, so this takes care of that want PLUS what I think is an awesome looking "special edition" 10/22 rifle. Everyone needs at least one 10/22, and now I have more than one... Big Grin

(Pic is from Ruger website as theirs is much better than I could do!)

That looks like a laminated stock to me, so it is probably best described as plywood.

I've stopped counting.

Would be fun to take a couple of boxes of 22lr and shoot at cans. I like the look of that rifle.

A 10/22 is almost as essential as an AR, far from useless. I’m up to 3 over the years, kids like em too.

Great choice, enjoy it.

Consider a Kidd trigger for it, buy once cry once.

Nice! Reminds me a lot of the old Walmart-exclusive stainless 10/22, the so-called "Walmart Special". Just with a lighter stock.

If it gives you joy it isn't worthless. I can see why you wanted it. Congrats!

It's not a useless rifle if it works for you. The 10/22 design has held up over the years.

Others have improved on the 10/22...like Kidd and Tacsol...trigger, barrel, breach cleaning.

Enjoy. The light colored stock looks good.

It does appear to be maple. Ruger simply says American Hardwood in their description...

Definitely NOT laminated, and certainly not plywood!!! Roll Eyes

Before I drop good money on a Kidd trigger, I will do to it what I did with my daughter's 10/22... I'll pull the hammer and sear and work them over with my set of Arkansas oil stones. About 15 minutes of work on hers left it with a target-grade trigger, and no money spent to get it!

Why do this? Are you in the habit of crapping all over stuff people are excited about?

Bill, I think that’s a fine looking 10/22, really like the stock.

Annoyingly hard rifle to source, the 75th Anniversaries. I've been hounding a few distributors for some in either configuration since they first were announced. The other 75th 10/22 is with an actual walnut stock, unlike this generic 'hardwood' one with the blonde treatment. Customers have been clamoring for them. But it would've been nicer still had the barrel came threaded, IMHO.

That’s a sharp looking rifle you’ve got there. This thread got me to pull out my wallet and order a 10/22.

Useless?
I have 2 Ruger 10/22's and love both of them!

You'll be surprised on how accurate it is, especially with a little 3X9 or a 4X12 scope of there.

Grab a couple of extra 25 Round mags, and a brick of ammo, and you'll be able to plink away all day for about $20!

One of my favorite targets to shoot at are Alka Seltzer tablets. I'll grab a piece of cardboard, a large container of Alka Seltzer, glue the tablets to the cardboard. 50 Yds, and shoot away.

Exactly, I love 10/22s. Buy all day everyday.

Thanks for the support, but I knew instantly that he was totally clueless and had never seen one in person, otherwise he'd never made the comment.

While I realize this edition is also available with walnut stock, I fell in love with the looks of the maple color and bought the rifle based on looks alone!

<<snip>>

Okay, to clarify, I didn't really mean "useless" as in TOTALLY useless... I just meant that I spent more on a rifle because it was pretty when I already have a 10/22 in the safe. They are totally useful, and everybody should own at LEAST one of them!

A question regarding what other guys are finding on these...

What kind of prices do you see, especially locally? I didn't want to deal with shipping and FFL transfer fees, so I bought mine at my favorite LGS for $325.00 plus tax... didn't really care if that was "a good price" or not, but I'm just curious! Thanks!

Oh, and in response to an above comment about a walnut stock over the maple... Ruger specifies the walnut is simply stained hardwood (and to clarify, the maple is simply hardwood also), NOT actual walnut!

Not knowing the 10/22 market at all, I'd say 325 isn't a bad price for a highly [aftermarket] supported option.

It's not maple, but there's at least one online dealer advertising them as maple. Ruger says "hardwood".
