Over the last month or so I've gotten more serious about rigging up my trusty old 11-87 as my dedicated HD weapon. It was my first gun... I got it for Christmas when I was 13 (25 yrs ago.) I've killed doves, ducks, turkeys, squirrels, and deer with it, maybe more. It has a handy 21" barrel and can still cycle with impressive pace.

I put some truglo rifled sights on it and now I would like a WML on the front of the mag tube that I can operate with a flick of a switch with my forward hand. This is not my area of expertise so I'd love to hear recommendations from those more tactically inclined. Perhaps there are some specific to the 11-87 or maybe a universal mount is better. Thanks in advance

GG&G makes a light and sling rail for the 1187

You could throw a TLR light in the rail and be in business.

I used SureFire lights for years until I was introduced to the Inforce lights. They’re not for handguns, but I much prefer them on long guns because they are easier for me to operate. They come in different versions, and I have a couple.

The below link is to one version. Just don’t order the one with IR capability unless you have night vision available.

Another vote for the Inforce. I got mine from DaBigDR here and it works great on my 1301 Beretta. Perfect for my hand placement.

Excellent. I don't own an 870 but I am kinda assuming anything that'll fit one would also fit an 11-87.
