Is Sig licensing production to a factory in India or are we making them here and exporting? I’d be surprised, especially for an order of this size, that they wouldn’t demand local production.

My understanding is that they're manufactured here and not India. Which may be why India is ordering more.

At the Delhi and Munbai airports, I've seen all manner of crap carried by the soldier/guards:

Old SKS looking things slung old-style on the shoulder barrel up. Beretta SMG slung like a purse and sweeping the entire airport. Old Sten with almost all of the finish worn off.

And they all have an old Hi Power in a cross draw rig.

At a JW Marriott where there was some governmnt minister having some event, one idiot guard had an MP5 sitting on his lap with the barrel facing the guy next to him.

The only competent gun handling I've seen were guys with front slung Tavor's with barrel facing down. They were security for some G20 event.

"Indian Army" Roll Eyes

Is there anything they haven't bought?

Seems like every two bit third tier small arms mfg can get a contract with them.

Their home-grown infantry rifle (the INSAS) hasn't turned out to be the answer. IIRC, they're license producing some AK variant.
