While I am glad these will be available, and I am excited for you guys who will buy one.
I personally have zero interest. Just not my thing.

Look at what the USGI 1911 program has turned into, price wise.
JMHO, YMMV.
lets do a comparison,
as a dealer, I pick up Garands, 1911's and some 22's from estates, some still have the CMP paperwork, most do not,
the US 22 trainers have jumped a bit, since the late 90's/early 2000's esp the 40x and 52's
percentage wise ,Moss 44's probably jumped most on the market
Garands, avg around 1K from CMP, (depending on grade etc)
most in this are in the private market (As in dealer sales ) are 1600+, expert/service and Winchesters and IHC will jump higher, and if it is correct for the vintage, original or restored, more, lots more
imports ( excel, blue sky etc) are 1400+/-, sometimes less
the few funky commercial ones, (not commercial SA) are less,
parts alone are crazy in price for certian features or vintages,
1911's, I have bought a couple dozen from customers, some getting out of the game, some pissed off that they did not get General whatshisnames personal all correct 100% Colt or US&S, even tho they put a post it note on the application when submitted instead they got a nice receiver with a replacement slide,
regardless of maker or grade, they sell for $1600 +,
the last 2 I bought for my personal collection was service grades, $2500 for 2, one Ithaca , all correct, with korean era Keyes grips, and an all correct colt, yes, i hit the lottery
three was a bit of a big deal about people scared the 1911 market would tank due to the release,
nope, a nice original 1911 still brings good money, not really a drop at all, and all the clones at $400 +/- did not hurt either,
different price point for different clientele,
so M14's
Springfields (commercial) vary in price a bit by options on the used market, and by vintage,
as in a relatively new vintage M1A will not bring what a similar M1A will that is pre ban (that part doesn;t matter much any longer) but they tend to be all USGI parts or damn close,
expect the CMP market to do the same ,
anything good will go to the auction, like NM or M21's
likely 3 grades, and likely a variation by maker, I expect TRW's may go auction, TRW parts always bring a premium,
and the parts market may get a big bump from people trying to correct their new rifles , just like garand folks do,
not going to comment on M1Carbines, that group has OCD levels that are probably on the spectrum,
It won’t matter for me at any price living in this leftist state.

Seeing that these M-14's will be going for about $4k at first, and who knows how much the flippers will be asking, I'm glad I picked up an all H&R parts gun back in the early 2000's.

There has been no word from the CMP about pricing.
This is all just conjecture at this point.

With the way the CMP has changed their business model I'd be surprised if they're much lower in price.

Considering how scarce M14’s were in the supply system ( in Iraq in 04-05 our squad designated marksman got them, rack grade cobbled together with a mis mash of commercial off the shelf optics and mounts- with one unit doing a unit buy of commercial M1A’s to fill the gap) I am surprised they still have that many.

It depends where the M14s came from. I expect it’s not from the Army or the Marines. They could be from Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard Arsenals. If it is 100,000, 100,000 times $4,000 equals $400,000,000. I really doubt that there’s that much demand for M14s. I expect that the prices will be lower for the less desirable rifles.

Have you seen the absolute feeding frenzy that erupts anytime the CMP releases surplus stock to the market? Real USGI M-14's have never been released because of ATF policy, so this is something completely new.

If it ten or twenty thousand rifles, I agree with you. 100,000 is lot of rifles. I don’t think that there’s that much demand. Most people don’t realize how much difference there is between an M1A and a government M14. I have my reasons that I want a surplus M14 and am willing to pay for it.

If you're talking about the cast vs forged\bar stock issue it's pretty well known. If there is something else like thread pitch or other mechanical specs I'm all ears.

The Springfield Armory M1A is nothing special in my eyes. There are a few builders like LBR that I wanted. But as I gotten older, I m more of a collector than a shooter so an actual M14 appeals to me more. I’ve read that 22 percent of M14 were TRW, twenty two times 100,000 equals twenty two thousand rifles. That would be what I’d buy, but I’d still be happy with a Harrington & Richardson.

The 10 CMP Affiliated Club M14's thatI was custodian of were RECALLED in early 2000. The selectors were welded in semi mode. (all welds were cracked)
It would take less tha 2 minutes to render an M14 to M1A semi auto operation only.
Plasma or water jet cut the selector tab off the RH side of the receiver. Remove a few parts. Done

Also of note from that interview with the CMP CEO is that the CMP is receiving 2000-3000 surplus pump shotguns from the Army that will also be offered for sale, including 438 original Winchester 1897 trench guns.

That’s what I hate about politics. Clinton would rather pay to destroy M14s instead of selling them to Americans. Reminds me my uncle who was issued a very nice wrist watch because he was a pilot. When WW II ended, he had to turn in his watch which they immediately destroyed with a hammer. The offered him his destroyed watch. He declined the offer.
