I hope someone might be able to help me.

I have an old savage model 5 rifle.

It is a tube fed 22.
Manufactured in Chicopee Falls.
It does not have a date or inspection stamp.
On the bottom of the barrel there is a serial number 44xx. The same number is stamped on the inside of the wood stock.

From looking on other websites it appears it was made between 1933 and 1948, based on where it was made and having no inspection/date stamp.

It would be nice to know when it was built. It shoots great and is still fully functional. It is showing its age but still a fine rifle.
