Probably going to put a peep sight on it but not much else unless y’all have some suggestions. This is going to be a knock around in the woods gun/truck gun.

Trying to decide on a do all cartridge. A hotter 44 spl or a milder 44mag. What ya got?

I picked up a big boy x in 44. Having the ranger point handguard put on. Might leave the stock alone for now. Put a rail on top.
Peep sight might be a good idea.

I use mine for rifle season if I have tags left. I tried a handful of brands and was hoping to use the leverevolutions as they were very accurate in my 30-30. Out of my henry they were very inconsistent. I settled WWB 240 grain soft points as they had the best groups by far at 100 yards. I wanted to put a peep site on, but I had the 2-7 laying around, so that went on and I’ve been really happy with it.

I have a Marlin 1894P in .44. It is by far the pickiest about ammo of all my leverguns, but I think that's a function of the Marlin design and how the magazine tube interacts with the barrel of that gun, not the cartridge itself. Now that I've found a load that it likes, though, it shoots really well and delivers a nice punch. Moving between loads with it, though, is an exercise in frustration. Even with a gun that's not picky, if you're planning to go back and forth between magnums and specials, expect a significant change in point of impact.

I'm a fan of the Skinner Peep sights. Good company and a quality product. They have a lot of options, too, depending upon what you plan to do with the gun. In the pic you can see the one issue with the skinner sights...the aperture is trying to unscrew itself. A little loctite or a thin rubber o-ring will fix that right up.

Congrats. I picked up the same rifle about 2 years ago and love it. Mine eats anything I have tried including JHP, hard cast, LeverRevolution, etc. My eyes don’t work all that well with iron sights any more so I mounted an RMR on a Phoenix Weaponry mount. Super low profile and very easy target acquisition. I’d post a photo, but I’m a techno dope.

Congrats. While being able to load the gun 2 different ways, I appreciate the ability of being able to load the gun from the top as it is easier and quicker. The downside is the quickness in loading as I burn through more ammo much faster than I thought I would.

A lever in .44 or .357 is sweet.

I used to have a 20" Henry Big Boy in .44Mag. It had a full octagonal barrel and even so it was a thumper. A 16" standard (round) barrel would be even more so. If you need to use mag loads in it then by all means do so, but IMO you'll enjoy it a lot more if you use specials instead.

Mine would feed anything I could stuff into the magazine. I bought a Marbles tang sight for it but never got around to installing it before I sold the rifle. In retrospect, a peep sight would have been a better option. I bought it to shoot lever action pistol cartridge silhouette matches (out to 200m) that the club I belonged to at the time ran, but the guy who ran it quit and nobody stepped up to take it over so it died.

I bought a Henry Big Boy in .44 Magnum two years ago.

I had to put on a Skinner rear sight and get a taller front sight. Using my standard 240gr XTP and 24.0gr of H110, I was still shooting high at 50 yards even with the factory buckhorn sight bottomed out.

Picked mine up with the ranger point handguard. A HUGE plus for me is Brian, from Wolf Prairie you tube channel is nearby and uses the same gun shop.

Check out a stock from Chisel Machining. Crazy price but felt more solid than any others I looked at.
