Can’t claim anything like that but a little story:
My brother as a local beat cop but avid gun guy, back in the early 80’s got a slot to attend the FBI sniper course. Back then they were shooting to 300 plus yards and did a lot of fitness stuff, like running the 300 yards down staple target and run 300 yards back and plop down and shoot while racing heart. Anyway as he was on his own dime, the only rifle suitable in his collection was a pre 64 Winchester model 70 in 30-06 with a unertl scope. When the instructors saw it a few had tears in their eyes- as it was a perfect clone of guns used early in Vietnam, several of the instructors being vets who carried them

A good question, and I will be interested to see the pictures in response.

This is a long way from being a clone, but if transported back in time it would have been a good one to fill that role, plus with a few modern upgrades: Muzzle brake capable of accepting a suppressor, detachable 10-round box magazine, stainless barrel and receiver and polymer stock for all-weather use, Picatinny and Arca rail for mounting a bipod or clipping to a tripod, rear monopod for stability without a bag, excellent precision and accuracy, and chambered for the workhorse 308 Winchester cartridge. If I were an LE sniper today I’d prefer a scope with somewhat higher max magnification such as 3-15 or 3.6-18 rather than the 2-10× that’s on it now, but a lot of snipers generations ago would have been very happy with it.

I do love a Tikka
Mine has a 4-20x50 Nikon Monarch, because I'm blind, and why not.

Mine is a Remington 700. I talked with Benny on it. I was going to send to him as I was not sure my Gunsmith was going to be able to work on it with some health problems he is dealing with. Turned out he could.

It is a heavy barrel. Probably orig. a 26" Like the "Police" version. I was told it was cut down by a famous St. Louis gunsmith to 20" and recrowned. I think it has a McMillian stock. Might be HS Precision. I may try to paint it to give more of a large camo look to it. Not sure. My wife is pretty artistic.
Put a a Trigger Tech Primary trigger in it.
My gunsmith is going to thread the barrel and put a muzzle device on for a suppressor. Mine has a Burris 3-9x50 scope with target turrets. It also has a unknown bipod on it.
Has a 3rd. detached metal magazine.

I think I picked up the rifle years ago from a member here. Just had not got to do anything with it. I had a Gap .308 years ago and sold it like an idiot. This will be my poor mans Gap when I actually finish it. So far so good. I did shoot it prior to doing any of this. And it has potential to be a tack driver I do believe.

My precision bolt gun is a Remington tactical 20” 1:10 twist. It’s in a HS precision stock Harris bipod. Badger steem scope mount. Vintage model Leupold mark 4 steel rings and a leupold mark 4 4.5-14x 50 with m1 turrets that I don’t like. Threaded barrel so I can use a suppressors

I have an old 700 PSS 26” set up the same but not threaded barrel. Has a leupold mark 4 4.5-14x40
The 700 PSS came with a 40x trigger.

I wish I could find an old Varmint special to build up.

EL T is your 700PSS Police marked as such, If so, where? Is the barrel a bull barrel?
