I received this rifle yesterday, and I was very impressed with the build quality. Rossi really upped their game with this rifle. The action is buttery smooth. The gun arrived clean as a whistle out of the box. The stock is smooth as glass. Ammo is non existent here, so no range report. https://www.flickr.com/photos/...75@N02/shares/F1bKtV https://www.flickr.com/photos/...75@N02/shares/7i9Wmx https://www.flickr.com/photos/...75@N02/shares/T861S2 https://www.flickr.com/photos/...75@N02/shares/24vw9R https://www.flickr.com/photos/...75@N02/shares/rK5LF4 https://www.flickr.com/photos/...75@N02/shares/w1Su73 https://www.flickr.com/photos/...75@N02/shares/502FND Two things bring me to tears. Nice, i took the file to the silly safety on the top. Mines in 357magnum. "Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor.” Robert A. Pursuing the wicked |
I too just picked up a Rossi. Mine is the 24" Octagon "HARTFORD" from 2008, in .357. I've shot it once, and intend to do some more tomorrow. For years I wanted a Marlin in .357 (to match my 45 Colt) and this Rossi popped up and I couldn't resist it. I'm watching a carbine with round barrel in stainless right now........

About ten years ago, as a divorce present to myself, I bought a pair of 20" 92s in S/S. One in .357mag and the other .44 mag. Had a lot of fun with them over that time, even deer hunt with the 44 when walking. No complaints! Sigs P-220, P-226 9mm, & P-230SL (CCW)

I have a Rossi Ranch Hand. The materials and workmanship of that gun are far below the Rossi I just received. I have read so much about quality control problems with these rifles over the years. I cannot find a single thing wrong with this rifle. I have been pursuing one for years. It was surely worth the wait and the chase. Two things bring me to tears. Plowing straight ahead come what may |
I’ve been using a 24” octagon model chambered in .45 Colt for Cowboy Action for four years...the only gripe I’ve had was with the plastic follower in the magazine tube that got “sticky and sluggish” over time...I took care of that with an aftermarket stainless steel follower and spring. I also changed out the stock springs on the hammer and ejector to lighten up the action (trust me on this...Not only did John Moses Browning design what is pretty much the strongest lockup for lever actions...he loved himself a puzzle in his designs)...be warned if you pursue any spring changes (other than the magazine and follower) there is a learning curve until you do it a few times...YouTube is your friend http://thesmithshop.com/magfollow.html http://thesmithshop.com/rossispringkits.html ******************************************************** "we've gotta roll with the punches, learn to play all of our hunches Making the best of what ever comes our way Forget that blind ambition and learn to trust your intuition Plowing straight ahead come what may And theres a cowboy in the jungle" Jimmy Buffet

I was pleasantly surprised at the fit and finish on my 92. It has a great action right out of the box and shoots perfectly. The only issue I have with it is shooting exposed lead jhp ammo. I am told the ramp just needs to be polished but in general I am happy with it. It seems to get hung up on the ramp.

I have the 20" version and I love it. Fit and finish were better than expected and the action was very smooth out of the box. I do have problems loading flat nose 357's. The overall length seems to be too long and the rounds get caught. Round nose rounds do fine and so do 38's. I just need to shoot it more I guess. But as stated above, ammo is in short supply and I don't want to us all of mine right now.

I bought a new 20” in .44mag about a year ago and it’s a beauty. I believe it was advertised as a hardwood and polished model, but the new ones are a big improvement over the older ones I had about 10 years ago. The old ones I had were very rough inside and had some feed problems, so I took them apart and slicked them up and they ran great. When I bought the new one I took it apart and everything was smooth inside already, and a lot of the contact points were already polished from the factory. The new Rossi 92’s really are beautiful little lever guns, my 44 shots great.

I have the 16-Inch Rossi 357-Magnum and even with hot loads it is a soft shooting rifle. Very short and handy. When I first got it about 10 years ago, I spent the weekend watching movies and cycling the action a few thousand time, which made it very slick !!! Enjoy yours !!! God Bless !!!
