benny6What would be an accurate description of this Remington 700?
Would this be an accurate description?
Remington 700 short action varmint in 243 with a 22" barrel and Bell and Carlson stock?
How would I describe the magazines? AICS? They are single-stack magazines.
Does anyone know if this was ever a factory offering?
Thanks,
Tony.

lymanwanna say I have seen that stock as a factory option, but not sure who made the triggerguard/mags,
what year is the barrel date?
look that up (I Cannot make out the letter shown) and then google for a catalog for that year,
it's relatively modern, since it has that Remington rustomatic express looking finish

David LeeRemington did offer the 700 in a DBM option. Detachable box magazine. The mags in your photo look like BAR mags. MDT makes AICS detachable for the 700. I draw a blank on this Remington.

David LeeBTW, it's bottom metal looks to have been opened up to accept those magazines. I have seen Garands altered to take BAR magazines.

Opus DeiOver the years, I think there's at least a couple companies that made mag conversions-or maybe one marketed under different names.
I have one of them on my long-action 700; it's called Kwik-Klip, or something close. The magazines look much like that, and there was one four-rounder that came with the bottom metal. 10-rounders were also available, and I have at least one.
If that rifle has a KK conversion or the like, I don't think the bottom metal is opened up. They're aluminum, and that's likely wear from insertion..maybe a slight relief to make them easier to drop.

rat2306Remington made a 700 SPS Tactical for some time with a 20" heavy barrel, and greenish synthetic stock. Digging just a little on the internet, .243 wasn't one of the chamberings. The older 700P (Police) was available in .243.

RRRemington also made a 700 “Long Range” with a heavy barrel and Bell & Carlson stock. None that I’ve seen were mag fed from the factory.

preten2bPerhaps a version of the 700 LTR (light tactical rifle)? Or one with stock replaced?
