Thanks Josh. Was CCF the place down in Richmond, VA? I recall reading about a company there when I first dove into Swiss SIG stuff but the place in Richmond was no longer around by then.

Good Morning and Merry Christmas Daniel!

Have you seen the Manurhin version of this mount? I have a friend in Chile who may have a few. I worked with him back in '93 when I worked for the Carabineros de Chile in Santiago. I'm trying to see if I can get one to try out. Unlike the ones I have seen on the inter-web, the Chilean ones are finished in SIG grey and have the scope riser blocks. I'll let you know if I ever see one.

Merry Chistmas Dan,

The Manurhin mount I know resembles the commercial SIG clamping mount made for the aluminum adapters. It was just a bit shorter. Could it be that FAMAE build a compelte mount based on the SIG/Manurhin patter? A picutre would be interesting for sure.

So....wow, small world. Looking at the ATF letter on CCF's website, the aforementioned industry liason is someone I know personally and have been to his home. I worked with his wife for many years and we used to go over for parties and such. He's retired now but I knew he worked for ATF, didn't realize he had some relevance on this matter.

Yes. CCF was in Richmond. Larry no longer has a ffl/sot.

If/When I get one you'll be the first to see it. Unfortunately, I have no photos. I just took my buddy's word for what he had. It is my assumption these mounts were made for South American law enforcement agencies.

I bought the Die Hard AUG from Larry back in the day. Neither of us knew what it was. It was priced right so I jumped on it.

Very cool. I did not realize you bought that AUG from Larry. As I recall you also picked up one of the very rare 551 Commando barrel, gas tube, gas piston, and handguard kits he was selling that use a gas system in between the 552/553 and 551.

Larry always had great stuff.

Yep. I got that kit from Larry. I still have it sitting in a box.

I owned an FNC fixed stock rifle for several years. I very much regret trading it away back in the mid 90’s. Completely smooth, reliable, and accurate. Just a great long gun- been a while since I’ve seen one in the wild.

Those are neat. Basically what Exeter went with on the 556p/patrol/SBR. You should buy a current 553 import and swap that front end onto it.

I already have two 550s and three 551s. That's enough. I guess I could put it onto my ex-PD 551 SWAT SBR. Or maybe I should just pass it onto someone else who would appreciate it. Like I said, it just sits in a box.

Here is a DS Arms 1990s Sig sales flyer showing the 551 Micro.

Enough?! You don’t have a 553. You should remedy that ASAP.
