I transport a couple of rifles and pistols in a
Savior Equipment Urban Warfare Tactical Double Long Gun Bag Case Backpack w/Pistol Handgun Case, Lockable Zipper, Padded Side Carry Strap, Available Length in 36" 42" 46" 51" 55"

Comes in six colors.

I fit everything in it but bulk ammo for a range trip.

Another nod to Savior Equipment. I really liked their two rifle case but deferred that purchase for a while in favor of the smaller and less expensive single rifle Patriot version from Savior. I plan to get the two rifle case eventually.

I've been very happy with the 5.11 5.11 Tactical LV M4 Backpack. I really like shoulder straps rather than handles.
For the transport case I'm a pelican fan. Yes prices have gone nuts, but you will be only buying one for the rest of your life plus your heirs.
And its good for everything, flying, shipping, stacking in the back of a pickup etc. when the soft cases can do none of those.

Geissele makes a great case. Even has a double mag pouch with velcro for inside the case and a belt clip. Fits a full size 16" with mag plus the 2 extra. Been my truck gun bag for a while now

after many, many years of using a similar style one strap case from 5.11 I recommend that one go with two traditional shoulder backpack style straps. It works way better.

I mentioned Savior in the other bag thread and yes they are quite nice and priced well. Made in Taiwan, I think.
I recently got one a few months ago primarily because I wanted a gray case but I have others that are similar Voodoo, Eagle mostly.
Pretty much the same, maybe better.
Kind of boils down to what size and style you want.

It would definitely be amongst the most expensive approaches but I love the idea of a nice padded soft bag that fits exactly into a pelican case. I really like the softness and accessory capacity of various soft cases, but also like the extreme durability and improved security and protection of a pelican. That’s usually how I transport my stuff to the range. The old Eagle Industries soft cases built for this purpose were the best, but those American Mountain System cases look like they might be a good successor.

I’ve got 4 SKB iSeries cases that are about 50”x 16”x 5” if I remember correctly. I picked them up used at a garage sale for $100 each, the previous owner had used them for survey equipment. They have rigid foam in the center and a closed cell foam on top & bottom. They’ll hold 2 long guns & ammo or using top & bottom, 4 SBR’s and lots of mags, however you want to design it. They’re incredibly tough, watertight and have wheels on one end and drag handle on the other, as well as a carry handle. Of course they’re airline approved .. they aren’t cheap but if you can find them used you might be able to get a good deal.


If you really want something you'll find a way ...
... if you don't you'll find an excuse.

I'm really not a "kid" anymore ... but I haven't grown up yet either Wink

Thanks for all the recommendations. For now, I think he has purchased the Geissele Shootout Bag. The removable, wearable double magazine pouch was a selling point.

For the double rifle case, I think he may go with the Savior Tactical Urban Warfare.

I bought the Savior Coffin. It comfortably holds my DD M4V4 w/6 - 30rd. mags. My Sig P226 w/3 12rd. mags. Various pouches and molle configurations. I'm very happy with it.

The Condor is the nicer bag. Either is fine, but the Condor is heavier fabric, and just seems a bit better made.
