WeshoweRem 40X .223 Ackley Improved Range Day...
Gents,
10-25-24 was a range day in order to break in, sight-in, and fire form my new 40X Remington. We had just put a on a new 24" M40 contour Krieger barrel with 1:7" twist chambered for the .223 Remington Ackley Improved.
For some reason I can't get pictures to post this afternoon, but will post rifle pics and posts as soon as we can.
All in all the rifle shot a five round 3/8" group while fire forming. This with 77 grain FGGM! It's
going to be a real peach.
More as the pics get sorted out.

ArtieSVery nice! It appears to work just fine.

fritzA Remy 40X is a good rifle. In recent years, jelrod1 has converted a number of buddies' .22lr single shot versions to repeaters. They shoot really well.
I know a couple guys who have rifles chambered in 223AI. Both have used SMK 77 bullets in their loads. They told me that fire forming loads were just as accurate as their final AI-chambered loads, but just slower.
Nice shooting. Assuming the paster is 1" in the group you pictured, I peg the group size at around 1/2".
Enjoy the rifle and get some legs under those loads, to targets farther out.

WeshoweGents,
Have a chance to shoot at 600 this month on the 23rd. I'll report back. I'll shoot my 6.5 Creedmoor that I just got. Benny did not barrel the .223 Rem AI. It was done by an old school German gunsmith in Southern California then shipped to me. He did beautiful work.
