I've wanted a .357Mag rifle for years, potentially to use with one of my suppressors. I got Ruger 77/357 a few years ago but constant failures to feed made it no fun. Actually, it's going back to Ruger tomorrow for a second time. Anyway, I spotted this 1894CSBL at a local shop last week and bought it after they accepted my $800 offer. I didn't realize how well I did on it until I started pricing all the extra parts (about $400 total):

• Midwest Industries rail
  
• Ranger Point Precision load gate, trigger, mag tube follower
  
• Hoptic cartridge quiver
  

I added a Magpul rail for a flash light/laser and a Trijicon Accupoint scope I had laying around to complete the tacticool package. It went to the range with me yesterday for the first time and I love it. It's a great shooter. Groups with .38Spl are larger than I'd like but .357Mag groups nicely. Now I'm wondering if I should thread to for the suppressor (Silencerco Octane 45HD).

Wow that is a really sharp looking gun. I love the stainless look. Is it stainless or a coating?

I always wonder why they could not take the csbl and put a threaded barrel from the cst.

The wood on the cbsl is good. the CST is complete crap.

It is lame. I’ve been eyeing both of those for months but wasn’t willing to fork out the dough for either when I’d have to spend more to get threading or stocks. When I spotted this for such a good price I jumped on it. The previous owner did pretty much everything to it I would have. Even with the cost of threading I’d still only be in it about the price of a new one but have some good upgrades.

I just bought a 336BL with a pretty decent piece of laminated on it, light tan in color. With the Williams receiver sight and Tru-Glo fiber optic front sight, its a shooter.

A video of shooting the Marlin 1894CSBL from yesterday. It's a lot of fun to shoot.

I had my CSBL threaded-no need to move the front sight. I really like the stainless/laminate look. I also have it in 45-70 for a hunting cartridge.

How many .38 Specials can you get in the magazine?

Honestly, I like everything on that gun except the lever. I'd prefer the smaller lever.

I would SO put standard BuckHorn sights on that and take it to a SASS Shoot just to watch purists heads explode.

Thanks for the nice video. The carbine looks much smaller when you actually get to see someone hold/shoot one. I may have to find some funds for one of those. I love the look of that wood and stainless combo.

No problem. It really is a great size and handles very well.

I'm not a big Remlin fan, but I'd be hard pressed to pass on that deal with all the peripherals.

I felt the same way. I doubt I would have ever bought a stock one for the prices they ask.

Did you get the original handguard in the deal? If so, I'd be inclined to pull all the googaw off of it and sell it and making it more traditional looking. Not to mention make back some of the price tag.

It did come with the original stuff but I like the way it is for now. I might swap it out down the road.
