Interesting. What's the advantage of a conventional brass case with a steel base? https://www.thefirearmblog.com...ation-squad-weapons/

Less of the more expensive brass is used. In addition, for containing chamber pressure when the cartridge fires, the head is the most critical part. A steel case head might be able to handle higher pressures than brass. I believe there was some mention of the cartridge’s being able to produce higher velocities, and the steel head may have something to do with that. FWIW, there are a couple of recent similar threads. Yours is the first with a decent description of the “hybrid” case, though. https://sigforum.com/eve/forums...0601935/m/1680094064 https://sigforum.com/eve/forums...0601935/m/9160088064 ► 6.4/93.6 “ Enlightenment is man’s emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one’s own understanding without another’s guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one’s own mind without another’s guidance.” — Immanuel Kant
