I'll probably just slowly just accumulate a few Ruger ones for 30 bucks a pop. By most accounts, they're the only ones that consistently work.

I could probably save a few bucks on a Tapco that 'may or may not work'. It's getting harder to decipher genuine experience vs. sour grapes in product reviews now days.

Other than price that seems the best option. And sticking with 20-rounders best overall.

I like the flushfit 5's. I've got 3 of them and they are super handy for the woods. Can carry a couple different loads if necessary and they fit in a coat pocket and the gun can be carried at the balance.

I'd like to try a Tapco for kicks.

Did you buy your Mini, brand new?

If so, did you take advantage of Ruger's 20% of accessories by registering the rifle for warranty on their web site? They typically have a 'Thank You' card included in amongst the owners manual and other paperwork. This card explains the process.

Well crap. I was told that the Tapco Gen 2 mags will work. I will just stick with factory mags. Thanks!

Hopefully this will save you some trouble, time & $.

The Mini is a tricky thing, in that the earliest versions are somewhat different than the later guns. I dug in on the perfectunion site to explore the details, which can essentially be summed up thusly: "Before doing anything to or for a Mini; buying mags, accessories, etc, call Ruger and ask in detail, and preferably make two calls on separate days asking the same question to two different Customer Service Reps and if they disagree make a third call for a tie breaker"!!

Yeah, it's that confuzzling at times....

No, it was used. Looks pretty good, but no 20% off anything (except the price...I was pretty happy w/ that)

The Houge stock was actually not too bad, but on this older Mini 14 I wanted a wood stock. A guy traded me his older Mini 30 wood stock for my Houge. I got some factory 20 round mags the other day and hope to get out next weekend for a serious range session.

Good looking rifle!!

Now it looks exactly like mine!

I like the wood stocked jobs myself.

Where did you get your magazines?

Found the factory mags at Running's Farm & Fleet. They had two for $34.95.

Semi local Farm, Home, and Sporting Goods store. Some Running's have a full Gun Department. They are a pretty good chain.

Got out last weekend and was very pleased with the rifle. Tad windy, but after a bit I was able to get some good groups.
