Bought this for my wife, backstory was covered in another thread but $500 for the CZ when PSA had the sale seemed like a good deal. Threw a spare Leupold I had on it for the time being and yeah, she’s a hefty girl.

Of course my wife says, “that’s too heavy”. Conveniently enough a local spot has quite a few used guns. So I stop in and see this Marlin 80G in pretty decent shape for a price I had enough spare cash to cover. “Lemme have it”. Did some fun research on old Burris scopes, found a 4x for $20~ dollars and now I’m into this for less than the Keurig I bought her last Mother’s Day. She prefers a duplex reticle so I’ll be on the hunt for one in a 3-7x version of this scope. What I paid for this one I would have paid for the base alone so it’ll work just fine for now.

Pretty excited to see her shoot this one. Gonna source a spare mag or two from eBay but I couldn’t be happier with it.

Now, did I purchase the CZ on purpose knowing she wouldn’t like the weight, meaning I’d HAVE to claim ownership? Never!

Eight years to retirement! Just waiting!

If it had a threaded barrel, I would have jumped on that CZ deal! I just don't see the point any longer in buying bolt action .22's that can't wear a suppressor. True, I could have paid another $200 to get the barrel threaded but that killed the savings.

It is pretty, though. Enjoy it!

"The designer of the gun had clearly not been instructed to beat about the bush. 'Make it evil,' he'd been told. 'Make it totally clear that this gun has a right end and a wrong end. Make it totally clear to anyone standing at the wrong end that things are going badly for them. If that means sticking all sort of spikes and prongs and blackened bits all over it then so be it. This is not a gun for hanging over the fireplace or sticking in the umbrella stand, it is a gun for going out and making people miserable with." -Douglas Adams

“It is just as difficult and dangerous to try to free a people that wants to remain servile as it is to try to enslave a people that wants to remain free."
-Niccolo Machiavelli

The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all. -Mencken

I absolutely adore Marlin 22 rifles.
I have a vintage tube magazine Model 81 with a vintage Tasco scope I keep in my home office.
It's pre 1968, no serial number. Birdseye in stock.

My favorite guns and the ones I shoot most often are .22 bolt rifles. 4 CZ 452's, a 457, and an Anschutz. They all have 20+" barrels so are quiet w/o a suppressor using standard velocity ammo.

No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

Nice. My bolt action .22s are Marlins and CZs as well.

I have a micro-groove JM stamped Glenfield 25 that I've had since our first year of marriage that is an absolute tack driver with Aguila Super Extra. A couple of years ago I picked up a Ruger American Rimfire and a CZ457 Scout to see which I liked best for a suppressor host. The Ruger got sold and I still have the CZ. It's as accurate as the Marlin Glenfield, but with pretty much any quality ammo. I'm very happy with both.

Nice rifles.

My favorite 22 is my 60’s vintage savage 141. Which is a sporter barrel Anschutz. It’s stupid accurate with a little leupold 2-8 rimfire scope. Gun shop had it listed as a savage 22 and priced wrong.

Another fun rifle I have is a late 1940’s Brno model 1. Basically a pre, pre CZ 452. Even uses modern CZ mags. The dovetail scope mounted are an oddball mm skin have not scoped it yet. Has irons and flip up sight yardage rear sights which is wild on a 22.

I traded into a Kimber HS (Hunter silhouette) was tossed into a trade gun deal to equal the value. it was made for the guys that shoot little steel rams and chickens. It was crazy crazy accurate but it weighed like 9 pounds with a 26 inch barrel and big scope. Was no fun anywhere but bench rest shooting. Ended up selling it for something else.
