Gents,

My new .223 Ackley Improved was finished last week. Got the Leupold MK IV LR 3.5 x 10 mounted in badger mounts and headed to the range.
The rifle is a trued Remington 700 with a fluted Krieger 1:8" twist barrel and a McMillan stock. A very nice rifle.
Range was a crisp 39 degrees here in the Willamette Valley (Oregon), but was beautiful crisp and clear...
Here's a picture for you on the bench. Rifle was shooting under an inch while fireforming brass. Can't wait to see what it will do with proper handloads and some match grade fodder:

Nice, I had to have Ron Spomer explain the round because of my ignorance but that looks to be a very nice rifle, congrats on what appears to be something special. Cool

So what made you go with the AI?

while it was never really common, it does have some advantages,

most folks now have never heard of AI,

curious, in addition to Mike's question, is that mount a bit high for that stock?

Gents,

I have a standard GAP .223, but wanted to give the Ackley Improved version a try. Time will tell which is the better cartridge...

Looks great Wes! I need to build Anthony a version of that, although he's growing like a weed and will be into 7.62 in no time.

Gents,

You're right, the rings are a bit high for the rifle, but they were all I had at the time. They will be replaced at a later date.
Here's a pic of what I consider a properly mounted scope, on my G.A. Precision "Rock" .308. Scope is a Nightforce ATACR 4 X 16X. No pun intended, but this thing "Rocks"... ;-)

Both rifles have a strong M40A1 flair to them. One of my all time favorite rifles that I hope to be able to get to clone myself someday.
