It's far more than "unfortunate".

Primary Arms GLx line is good for the money. PLx is outstanding. SLx is OK.

The first GLx 1-6 FFP LPVO will be available in Q2 for $699.99. Made in the Philippines.

The new PLx 1-8 LPVO FFP will be available in Q2 for $1499.99. Made in Japan with Japanese glass.

Primary Arms ACSS reticles are imminently usable and probably the best designs I've seen.

I haven't seen anything from Vortex at similar prices that I would prefer.

Made in Japan by LOW, company based in Poland. Definitely daylight bright. Need to get mine mounted up on my Springfield Armory G3…

Philippines is definitely better than china. I wasn’t sure about an LPVO so I didn’t want to spend $1000+ to find out if I liked them. I have to say I do like LPVOs but I still like my Aimpoints.

I use a Vortex Gen 3 HD 1x10 (I believe it was made in Japan) but its cost was not at your price point. Regardless, they make a good LPVO.

Between those two, Vortex and it isn't even a contest.


Euro Optic has been having frequent sales on Vortex Razor 1-6 scopes where they are under $1k. For a while they had pre-E version scopes (identical glass but a bit heavier) for under $800.


Until you get over $1000 there isn't any reason to look at anything except Vortex, Trijicon or Leupold. I generally default to the Vortex Razor because I have been using several of them for multigun for 10 years now and they have handled all the abuse of that sport and continue to work perfectly.

Once you get over $1k there are options like Kahles and Nightforce that are indeed worth looking at. Leupold kind of rules the roost for being lightweight but their reticle choices are usually kind of hinky. Trijicon could have OWNED the LPVO market segment if they would have offered different reticles in their Accupower lineup 10 years ago. Their dual illumination with fiber optics is truly excellent. They have fixed that now with the Credo lines and they have great glass.

Whatever you choose, make sure you put it in a quality mount. You want some cantilever for proper eye relief. I need to extended cantilever mounts like the ADM Recon X, Larue SPR-E, or the Warne extended Skel mount.

Pick the reticle that you like and try it.

I have seen package deals of optic and mount for around $350 for Strike Eagles......

Primary Arms GLx are below $1000. PLx is above $1000. SLx is generally below $500.

SLx - China
GLx - Philippines
PLx - Japan

I've found a number of LPVO scopes at my price point only to find that the reticles don't meet my needs. I have a Primary Arms 2x prism with ACSS and I find that the center V is just to small? A lot of the scopes appear too me as just over cluttered and way to much going on for a limited power scope on a limited range rifle.

The glass is amazingly clear, eyebox is the best I’ve experienced. I’m a die hard Nightforce user and I wish NF had the quality of glass that Vortex does.

With that being said, and I know you didn’t list it, I would go with Trijicon before I went with Vortex again.

I'm curious, what issues did you have with your scopes and which models were they?

I've been happy with my PA 1-6 ACSSs, good to know the G and Plx are not made in china. The reticle is the real winner for me on those. I have a Zeiss Conquest 1-4 ZQAR that I've been enjoying as well. I keep wanting to get a vortex but dont wind up with one. I have been scoping out their new 1-8FFP.
