I have a couple of field grade BPS (Browning pump shotguns) . One is a .410 and the other is a 28gauge. I was curious as to what they sell for now and come to learn that Browning has dropped the line. They are solid but plain shotguns. The bottom ejection is a nice feature. Another loss of an old and trusted line of firearms .

My 12ga is an older BPS Got it from my lefty [handed] uncle, so the tang safety & bottom eject worked well for him. The Enemy's gate is down.

The bottom eject is nice for dove hunting. All of the hulls are at your feet when you pick them up before leaving your spot. ______________________________________________________________ Common sense is no longer simply uncommon. It is rare these days.

It's long been its higher price point that has hurt the sales numbers of the BPS. I've genuinely like the smoothness and shootability of the BPS but customers seem a 870 Wingmaster or a Benelli Nova on the shelf for far less money...and the BPS loses out virtually every time. A real shame considering the quality of the Browning, but keeping within budget count for a lot, especially in these inflationary times. -MG

If they stopped making the BPS, the value will only go up. The Remington 870 quality started falling off about 10 years ago. The 12 ga. BPS was my first gun. It took me a little longer to save for it. But I have never regretted my choice. ______________________________________________________________ Common sense is no longer simply uncommon. I have a 12 & 20, don’t use them much, still aren’t going anywhere. I’ve never had a problem with either.

Only problem I've ever had with mine was the pump locked up after an extended session of clays. Swapped to my boss' Beretta auto [super sweet shotgun, but well out of my budget] and let it cool down & it was back in business. The Enemy's gate is down.

Ugh..that's a shame. I hate seeing classic guns being discontinued. No one's life, liberty or property is safe while the legislature is in session.- Mark Twain

I agree that’s a shame the BPS line is discontinued. We have 3 of them, and the BPS is a handsome high quality shotgun. About 15 or 18 yrs ago I was in a local gun shop with my youngest son, and we were looking at some shotguns for potentially his first bird gun. He’s a lefty so I was concerned about the stock offset many of the models had and he couldn’t get a proper sight picture. Then in the back of the rack I saw a short pump action which ended up being a BPS Upland Special in 20ga. Bingo! Neutral cant, English stock, bottom eject, perfect! He still has it and knocks down pheasant like a boss. Then in 2017 when Trump won, I bought myself a 12ga BPS Medallion to celebrate his victory. The Medallion model has an engraved receiver and fancy wood. It’s a heavy robust gun and shoots very well. Last is a 28ga model I found in that same little gun shop that we bought Connor’s 20ga at. He had a “used” 28” wood stocked model that he said the previous owner took great care of. I asked to see it and he brought out what looked like an older field grade 28ga BPS still in the box. I grabbed it and it’s been a fine pheasant gun when I’m in the mood to carry a pump.

Sigh, makes me a little sad. Of the shotguns I tried, the bps was my favorite at the range. My old man would try to make me use his trap gun, but for whatever reason the bps was easier. Liked it well enough that I picked up a 28 & 20. The 28 was a package deal; my brother & I bought the dealers last 2 guns, & last 2 cases of ammo for screaming deal. If I didn’t have the 28, I would have gotten the .410.
